Goat DLC possible now?
I was taking a turn through the digital artwork booklet (Amazing concepts. Concepts are always the best in my honest opinion) and saw that due to time and budgeting that the goat companion was cut.

Now, I don't know where the financial success of this title stands, but it seems that it was received well enough to warrant continued development. It would be pretty cool if the concept could be brought forth to the game in full since the whole Dev team seemed to like it. Maybe with the ability to limit their use in group server situations to low player counts if it gets expanded past a solo-player companion?

Either way, keep up the good work and have fun! It was a cool thing to discover Devs, thanks!

I thought the goat was already in the game. But I totally agree with you. It would be nice to have mounts too! Devs did a great job with this game.

It reads in the artbook that the goat would be a companion to solo players. This would seem like a pack animal rather than a mount or combat companion.
+1 for Moria Goats!
Where did you get the artbook? I would like to see if. Could you somehow upload them using the artwork content thread to post them using a camera?

UPDATE: Nevermind, i found it as a dlc.

I have the Digital Artwork bits and those are typically accessible through the actual game files. I'd love to share them, but I'm not sure how to or if that's allowed.

True. Anyways, sounds cool you could have a goat companion. I imagine it could even carry stuff too. The only goats now are the wild ones you can hunt.

Yeah, looking into the artbook again it was clearly imagined as a companion of several talents to aid solo players. Most of their concepts make it look like those in-game goats, but domesticated for pack work.

Could be a future dlc. Im pretty sure the developers are not done with this game, at least for DLC's. The base game is done, but the game could still get DLC's, unless the developers say there done with this game.

I don't think the game did amazing in sales and it got pretty poor reviews at release... I know critics don't have much influence in the industry but I think it might have just been a slow enough sales generator that I don't personally anticipate a lot of support for this game. I might be completely wrong but thats my feeling

Well they did an Epic release. Those never seem to do so well when they finally make their way to Steam. The developers did a great job however and its nice to know that even over a year since release they're finding this project worth working on.
I'm sure it will receive continued development. There are too many rough edges. One glaring flaw is not having the ability to rebuild certain items in a base without the tech research. So if you come across a chest and build a base and that chest gets destroyed, you can't just rebuild it from the components like you can in Valheim. I'll revisit it in another year as there is potential here but needs polish at this time.

Personally wouldn't call that a glaring flaw and I'm at a lost as to what rough edges I ran into. Realistically I don't think many things in the world can be remade without new components or tremendous amounts of effort, so I think that is fair for games to follow the same logic.

It's rough compared to valheim, though to be fair valheim has had a lot longer to mature. Valheim can be unforgiving at times but it doesn't punish you needlessly. Anything destroyed can be rebuilt, albeit laboriously if your base is attacked. But as I said, these issues will be resolved in time.

Alright, but I'm not sure what this all has to do with the Goat Companion we were all initially talking about.

I just realized you were talking about actual goats. With all the acronyms floating around these days it's confusing. My baaaaaad.
