Those are old reviews, the game has changed a lot over more than a year since its initial Epic release.

I would honestly say, discount any reviews more than 2-3 months old, this game has gone from strength to strength, it would be like looking at payday 3 launch reviews to compare it to today! give it a shot.

The bad reviews are most likely the original ones from the EGS days, the game has faced an immense glow-up
The only problem right now is maybe some optimization, on every other front this is shaping up to be a great game now

Hows the content? plenty of hours of fun?
Flavio93Zena Jun 18, 2024 @ 10:26am
A lot of hours, given it's a roguelite the singleplayer has endless replayability as it's randomly generated everytime, plus according to your choices and gameplay.
Multiplayer is also a lot of fun, I would kinda recommend not playing the 300+ms lobbies though :D

I have well over 50 hours on xbox (don't even have the dlc levels), all the bad reviews were from a year ago when the game first came out and was essentially a different game. The whole game is stuffed with content.

DLCs are free to get for a limited time. If you have issues getting them on xbox specifically, they are being worked on right this moment.

Only the new dlc is free on xbox and I got the heavy hitter pack for free back when I bought it as well. I was just pointing out that even without the dlc on xbox I still played it for 50 hours and enjoyed it enough to buy the game again

But I heard it has perma-death, so shouldn't it be called rogueliKe and not rogueliTe then?
I don't like permanent death when I lose a character I like. I prefer the opposite, permanent progression like it's typical in rogueliTe games...
Is there an easy mode for beginners where I can enjoy the campain and don't have to fear all the time that my buddies die forever?

I don't know about random low rarity comps but I am pretty sure the rare ones don't get removed from the game, just from that campaign. Though I think they lose personal quest progress.

Most of the reviews on google could be old and negative since this game at launch was bad.

As of right now the game is PACKED with content, singleplayer gamemodes contribute to your multiplayer levels too, same goes for what you unlock everytime you level up.

Gunplay is really nice, feels solid, hard hitting and responsive, and you'll never run out of guns to choose from.

Story is... okay i guess? Voice overs are the weakest point of the game next to performance but there are some nice concepts in there, some character missions to give depth to em, gang wars and turf wars are awesome, heists are very well planned besides the small jobs like malls, warehouses and such that get... a little boring since they are almost the same everytime you do them.

Enemies are varied and feel balanced most of the time, shields, snipers, heavy's, and also robots! Which are weird to have on a 90's game but oh well, dumb fun.

Multiplayer is nice too, has some missions called "legends" which are like a story mode but for MP, a gamemode similar to crimespree on payday 2 which gives you a random selection of heists to run through on one sitting, normal heists, big ones, small jobs and so on.

I give it an 7/10 :]

The game is pretty good to be honest, at least in its current state. I downloaded this on my PS5 when it was on PS+.

It's only permanent for that specific campaign run. In multiplayer you don't ever lose anything instead.
