Game having had a year of 'early access' on EGS is a fair view IMO. It's very likely we would not have had the game in its state today if it weren't for that.

And the whole EGS vs Steam thing is so pathetic/childish to begin with.

Meh makes all the childish statements you want. Exclusivity hurts everyone. I won't support it. There's a bazillion games to chose from. Not going to miss this one.

Think of it like this: Epic paid for a year of early access, content and finetuning, so you can have the game almost for free today here on Steam.

Without that money the game likely would have died right at launch a year ago. It kept food on the table for an entire dev studio for a year.

I see it similar to games releasing on PS5 first, and a year (or two) later on PC. PS5 gets the premiere, but also all the bugs and have to pay for all the content. PC gets the fancy version with all the DLC and most of the problems ironed out.

So in the end, everybody wins.

I love how people making this argument conveniently ignore the fact that Valve exists only because of exclusivity and there was no way to play their games without using their launcher as they weren't available anywhere else.

Also this 'hurtful' exclusivity from places like Epic who have very deep pockets allows developers to fund their games and get a guaranteed income at launch which can often help a studio survive. They are also allowed to release their game on other platforms at an agreed date depending on the type of deal and Epic takes very little profit.

So why are you so angry about it? Epic is simply offering a very good offer. You should be angry at the game studios that agree to take this cash.

Or you should buy more games so that companies don't have to do deals like this to survive in the industry.

In what twisted logic is Steam exclusive? Epic _literally_ pays companies to not put it on other launchers. Steam...never does anything of the sort. You want to be somewhere else AND on Steam? WTF is stopping you? You are LITERALLY making my argument for me. It's hardly Steam's fault they provide a superior platform and publishers don't put it out themselves or on other launches. Steam sure isn't stopping them. And..um...that is about the dumbest thing I've seen in a while - 'be mad at Epic for making an offer and not the company that took the offer'. Sooo...by that logic, we should only go after drug dealers, not the people making the CHOICE to do them? I can guess your age range....no personal responsibility. As far as buying games...maybe you should look at my profile? Dude, if you're going to go on the attack, at least think through what you're posting and, I dunno, get some facts straight. Bored now.

You obviously don't remember Halflife 2 and how it was only available via the steam launcher.

That’s because steam owns half life and only want to release on there platform. Same with any ip epic owns. Other then that steam doesn’t limit where devs want to sell/distribute there games epic does with the deals that benefit no one.
