I Kinda wish COOP characters DIED....Let me explain.
If I take a character as an AI on a coop mission to help me. And They die or I leave whilst they are down. There is NO downside. NONE. I kinda wish that if they died or I abandoned them, I had to re-buy them in game. Would kinda give me a reason to care about the AI. Id go back and try and rez them, Maybe even move them to a more calm location. or even switch to them altogether and escape the danger they are in. But as it is, I kinda use them as extra muscle to cheat the higher difficulties ha.

You're the only person who wishes for this. Anyone who doesn't enjoy rage games would loathe having to purchase a multi million dollar character again in the case they die. It makes sense in campaign, that's the name of the game. In multiplayer though? Screw that.

Funny, that's how Multiplayer used to work back in the day. If they died, you'd have to buy them and their guns back again. But then Multiplayer got downgraded/changed for the worse.

Worse* Along with the butchering of the game's progression system into this dumb RNG heavy grind.
If the bots could move and behave with the same cleverness of a human player, I might agree with you. But the number of times I've had it where I'm in an enclosed space or hiding behind cover (drilling into a bank vault, hiding behind a half-pipe, etc), and one of the bots just waltzes out into the open then gets shot to pieces when I told them to stay still while they were behind cover...
I shouldn't be penalised for non-humans behaving like the stereotypical 'ranked teammates'.

ESPECIALLY when to buy them costs a fortune, and only slows your progress.

If you want to go back and rescue them, then that's your choice to include that as part of your preferred playstyle. No judgement there. If you want to use them as extra muscle to cheat higher difficulties, that's still your choice to include that as part of your playstyle and I'm not judging you for doing that.
But don't penalise everyone else, because you don't feel sufficiently compelled to play a certain way. It would be like saying "we've changed this game to hardcore-mode only, because we want players to avoid dying so much" - and only adds grind to the game.

I'm curious. Do you have a specific game in mind?
