Unlike the more low-key art from before, it also stands out in a bad way, since it feels like all the art was made by the same person.
My other annoyance with the update is the enforcing the stupid gun skins on single player, i hate that crap. Thankfully someone has modded that out.
But yeah, the devs have made quite a lot of questionable decisions IMO, they actually removed an entire faction from the game (the mafiosos) with teh Cognali update.
The realistic and efficient thing to do would have been to add Cognali while keeping the mafia faction, but they decided to just remove them outright, wasting development effort for no reason.
Instead of having that plot be a stupid twitter post, how about making a in-game event? IE: Sometiems Don Barbaro gets taken out and and replaced by Cagnali and sometimes he doesnt.
I swear to god that this "lets make lore changes and post about them elsewhere other than the game" is a cancer in a lot of modern titles.
And sadly no, the mafia faction was not really "replaced" by the Cognali, the original faction had unique voice lines as well as unique tier 1 and 3 looks.
Cognali, as it stands, is still the weakest of the 3 factions in terms of story and integration with other missions.
Where is that setting? its not in "Settings"
Only voicelines about Don Barbaro and his italian mob members were from Touchdown, to my knowledge, a few quips about greasers and pizzas.
Cagnali is the niece of Don Barbaro by the way. And the Don died of old age.
To my knowledge even before Cagnali replaced him, Don Barbaro's Scudos was a default Tier 3 and also used sentry turrets. They were meant to be the "late game" enemy faction. Cagnali herself is in Truce with everyone else up until Day 6, after which she may also take turf away from others.
I usually recommend rushing to take her out before she expands. If you get lucky with map spawns, by takint 1 turf you can surround another and its instantly claimed by you.
Don Barbaro had low level goons before the tier 3 Scudos PMC looking dudes. They also had unique lines (all very much italian mob steriotypes, akin to the mexican steriotypes we have with the Sicarios).
I am just saying that instead of removing him from the game, they could have added a TV news cutscene about Don Barbaro's death and Cagnali's takeover (no need to even re-hire any actors, just a generic news voice caster). And make his death a in-game event.
This could have boosted both Don Barbaro and Cagnali's connetion to someplot and elevate both of them. Instead we just have Cagnali now and her disjoited low tier robocop reference company.
And making that event randomize would also play into the style of the game, where sometimes you would have Don Barbaro alive until the end or he would die pretty early in the campaign.
The way they did it just so dumb IMO, a massive waste of oportunity and already developed content. Trying to add lore via Twitter posts is just the icying on the cake for this dumb decision.
