Blurry Billboards
A lot of, but not all, billboards appear to be very blurry. My view distance is on ultra and increasing texture quality doesn't change it.
Ideas?

Welcome to Unreal Engine where texture streaming is a problem since UE3, have a nice stay. The engine is ass, it takes forever to load certain textures at times, super obvious on "clear" images like the billboards.

Why don't you join Epic and show them how it's done? Or, at least, name a better engine, so we can all have a laugh.

LOL, go tell the devs they should've used RAGE or literally any other engine instead. I'm sure they totally won't laugh in your face.

Ladies, I'm asking for advice on graphics settings not for your oh-so-riveting armchair game dev critiques, because this problem wasn't a problem before and am just curious if anyone else has been getting it or if it's just my setup/settings.
Put a bandage on the chips on your shoulders and focus on the topic.

OP, how can we help if you didnt provide any specs or settings. And as mentioned Unreal has a texture loading problem sometimes. UR5 is especially bad.

And Lardo, you clearly dont know what your talking about. Less than 20% of games are made with unreal. Unity is close to 30%. RAGE and Frostbite are proprietary engines.

Lets hope they polish UR5 a lot more than they have because games using it are not doing great overall.

It's funny how you think these are points in your favor. 20% is huge, especially given how it appeals to AA-AAA developers, Unity has its advantages for indie devs, but is nowhere near feature rich for AAA, and proprietary engines can't even compete, by definition. They're a lot harder to work even internally, which is why EA and CDPR are moving away from them.

Mate, I'm just asking speculatively if anyone else is having this specific issue. I'm well aware of UE5's technical problems.
All I'm asking, in the simplest terms, if anyone else has had this problem so I can diagnose for myself if the problem is the game, my hardware or that I just need to change a setting.
I'm not trying to file a bug report here, I'm just asking if this is a problem others have had since the last patch because it wasn't a problem before and now it is. And it's inconsistent. Some billboards are crystal clear, some blurry. Doesn't have correlation to the texture on the billboard (e.g. the Cagnalli billboard has been both clear and blurry) or distance so it's not a LOD model problem (the billboards outside the map are fine and some in the map are fine and the blurry ones don't get better or worse based on how close I am.
It's a simple yes or no question: Are the billboards in your version of the game blurry?
It doesn't stop me enjoying the game but it's weird when everything else is rendering sharply yet random billboards are blurry.

Blurry as in the texture is low quality or blurry due to post processing effects?

Cause if its the latter, then you can edit the engine.ini file to remove TAA or other such post processing effects that cause blur.

Blurry as in low resolution texture.

Just tried increasing the "Effects" setting and that appears to fix it in 1 instance (I had it set to High previously, which should definitely not get blurry textures in the first place).
Will test further.

As was commented right under, literally ANYTHING is better. UE became new Unity, everyone uses it yet almost no one knows its limits. You defend Epic so can't expect much else.

You can "comment right under" however many times you want, it doesn't make your assertion any less ridiculous. Now you're saying "everyone uses it yet almost no one knows its limits", and it's somehow UE's fault. Everything has limits, so it UE is LITERALLY the worst, because it has limits? I'm not defending Epic, I'm defending common sense, which is that UE5 is a technological marvel that allows people to create gorgeous games quicker and easier than ever before. You're the one that's so incredibly ignorant, you think everyone would gladly be using RAGE, if R* just let them. The obvious fact is, after one minute with RAGE, any dev on Earth would say "f* this, I'd rather deal with whatever issues UE has, at least I'll be able to actually ship my game".

Problem isn't general performance. I run it fine. Just these specific textures don't want to load, and more annoyingly it's inconsistent. Some load fine, others blurry. Not an LOD problem either.
