Unlock specific characters in the campaign question

Hello! I have read somewhere you need to unlock characters through magazine than it will appears as stories in campaign for example Cracker. Is it true? He the last one i need and is not appearing in the magazine.

yah its all RnG like the weapons and stuff, u would still need to buy him in MP and solo like the turret =D
