Which one is the best usually?

usually the purple one is better vs the blue one.

But do keep in mind that some equipment, like the scanner granade or silenced pistols are VERY USEFUL when they first show up and should be taken over just a simple purple machinegun or shotgun, at least thats my opinion.

I was mostly wondering for characters. I got a purple and a blue one and wasn't sure which one to pick!

Then its sadly not a 100% sure thing, some characters are geared towards stealth like Vamp or Runaway, while others are tanky and good for combat (like Tuna) and others are generalists.

You should try to pick the one you might be lacking for your team.

Depends on their loadout. Anyone with white outlines are garbo, but very expendable.
