Guards and civilians getting alerted for no reason?
I've had multiple situations where during stealth guards or civilians' alert bar would start filling up for no reason, and when it's full they would either stand in place and not do anything or call in an alert and ruin stealth entirely. Is this a widespread issue?

Just today while doing a mall mission I ziptied a guard in the security room, disabled cameras, and then tried to bait a guard from first floor with a brick. The moment he walked up to the stairs, while having zero vision of the guard in the security room, he alerted the entire building and ruined stealth.

I'm having the same issue. I had it happen twice, back to back. I threw a brick to distract the guard and instead of walking to it and not being alerted like he's supposed to be, he became FULLY ALERTED just from me throwing a brick like you're supposed to. Needless to say it ruined the entire mission :)

It's become so bad that I can't play anymore without it happening at least once every mission. I'm done playing until they fix it.

They may notice bags, broken cameras, etc. Civvies can alert guards too.

Yeah, I noticed that, but there was literally nothing on the stairwell. Just the broken brick that I threw to attract him. The ziptied guard was above his head behind the ceiling, there was zero sightlines between them. No broken camera either.

It's happening 100% with bricks. It's like Bricks have a 7% chance to cause alert or something.

Totally. That's my guess too. It's driving me crazy. Do the devs even know this is going on? I've looked everywhere looking up this issue and I haven't found anyone talking about it at all except here.

Yeah. Stopped using bricks entirely. It went a bit better, but still got a rando alert. Not sure what I'm supposed to do about "boss" enemies either, you can't just tell them to get down.

Is this a difficulty setting thing? Guards never reacted to my bricks when I was playing on Normal, but I started playing on Hard today and had to be much more careful with the bricks.

It isn't, it's just a bug/glitch in the game. You're lucky you haven't had it happen lol.
Basically what happens is you throw the brick and the guard goes to it but.. their detection meter fills up. it has to be the brick because I've thrown it, no tied up people, body bags, nothing to alert them is in sight and they just get alerted. One time I even threw a brick indoors, I wanted the person to look the other way so I could move and he just became fully alerted by the brick. Then when that happens is I've seen the guard or gangster doesn't matter what enemy, shoot in that direction at it. The AI is super confused.

Jeez.. how do you even stop using bricks, that's like a challenge on its own! Props to you. And yeah, I just completely avoid the bosses cause like you can't do anything to them. The only thing that I can think of for taking them down is if you have a silence gun or a melee weapon. BUT the 'boss' has to have a melee weapon otherwise they'll just shoot you and alert everyone. I usually just avoid them.

Just a theory, but did you throw the brick while being inside or outside of a building? My theory would be that they get alerted by seeing some random brick if its inside. I also noticed this happening while using the scan grenade (which sticks to walls etc). Could be completely wrong of course...

Also wanted to add that for those bosses (if we are talking about the "kill captain" mission here), I beat one with quick melee after throwing a silent gas nade at him and getting him in a stunned state. I did have to hit him a couple of times though.

I was doing a story-related mission.

Got rid of everyone except one guard near the van.

I had to do one more bag, as I walked back to pick it up I suddenly saw a guard on the opposite side of the alley.

I threw a brick behind him, he turns around and as he walked to check the brick his meter was filling up.

It's inconsistent. They can be alerted both inside and outside. In restricted areas and civilian ones.

Well I can say with full confidence that this isn't an intentional part of the game but rather a bug/glitch like I said before. It would be nice to shed more light on this issue so that it can be resolved. As it stands, with this in the game I can no longer play and enjoy it. Every mission I load into I just expect it to happen and sure enough, it does. It's a very draining experience and one I hope no one else has to encounter. I just want to have fun, and I can't. :(
