Can't find my config file
PC gaming wiki says the game.ini file should be in the install directory, but when I navigate the path all I get is an steam_autocloud.vdf

What's the order of operations to safely get the ini from the cloud without nuking my save?

It’s in My documents, not install directory, just search it.

Nope. Sure isn't. I have many game.ini but none for this game

Dawg you think I didn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Google it?
it's not there.
It's not anywhere it's supposed to be. The only thing in any of the locations is steam_autocloud.vdf.

Let me ask you this since you want to be condescending with links, how the ♥♥♥♥ do you think I found the steam_autocloud.vdf if I didn't Google it?
Do you think I just went to PC gaming wiki straight away?
And wtf did you think I meant when I said "any of the places it's supposed to be" ??

Why the ♥♥♥♥ do you think I asked the best way to retrieve it from the cloud?

You tried to pull out a "let me Google that for you" only to find you didn't think it through and you're not even answering the question but instead trying to answer a question that no one asked. Good job. This was very constructive of you. :steamfacepalm:

I already know where the save file is. It's in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cloud. That's why I asked what is the correct order of operations to download the save so I can edit it and then overwrite the cloud one; not "where is my save file?"

And a little tip: don't pull an lmgtfy link on some one with a steam account older than 15 years. Our reflex is to Google everything.

And personally I know Windows file structure pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ well since I started building computers before Youtube existed, from literal trash thrown out at tax season, and I did so by "Googling" ♥♥♥♥, back when Yahoo was still an option. Off the top of my head I can name 9 different locations to look for save files, and never mind the fact that I can search the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer for game.ini files and not find the one for this game because I know how to use File Explorer's search function. (it's how I know i have several Game.ini files in the first place)

Here's an excerpt from Steam guidelines that you might find helpful:

Jeez, I must've pushed a button. Here, straight from the devs:

If it's not there, IDK, open a support ticket.

Insulting people tends to do that tbh

I have no idea why PC Gaming Wiki says that, because that's not where it is

Yea I spent over an hour looking for it last night and it wasn't there. I check again this morning and it's not there. I boot the game up and do some testing and it's there.

I managed to edit it to skip startup movies and that seems to have held, so I guess it's fine now and I can move on to experimenting with graphical ini edits.

Steam cloud did this to me before like 7 or so years ago, where every time I closed the game the save was gone and would re-download every time I launched. Idk why this happens but it's too infrequent for me to nag support about it, especially when it solves itself. I've never lost a save so ♥♥♥♥ it i guess

Thanks for the help (or at least trying, and not being a douche nozzle about it :zaglol:)

@quarren you need to unblock EOS to be able to play coop
it is like 4 lines in appdata, if you touched it
otherwise, there is a guide to fix your issue:
