Was also curious about this, didn't see it anywhere in the options screen.

well, this is concerning

No one can hear me ingame also, do unless thry all have it off, it's not voice activsted?

Yeah would love to have a dev chime in here, where is the push to talk because open mics are a horrible idea.
Roland Jun 20, 2024 @ 10:07am
It's open mic only.
I recommend using your microphone's mute function as needed.
Pekmez Pita Jun 20, 2024 @ 10:38am
Nope. Open mic. Meaning, it'll be permanently off for me.

This is certainly an oversight. That goes for any multiplayer title with in game VOIP.

this is awful if someone hot mics / speaks with open mic you hear them constantly and you get to hear the mouth beathing neck beards, wife yelling kids screaming and dogs barking in the back ground.,

1 word AWFUL fix this!

You can mute them in the menu.

That's not going to stop the people that sit with their mics open I promise you; those same people can mute themselves and don't.

Windows 11 even gives you a damn hotkey for Mute: win+alt+K.
Like Windows even gives the cheap microphones people buy at the dollar store an option to mute themselves now, and still people do not.

I have over 2k hours in both GTA and Paladins, both have PTT options and both it's easy to find examples of someone with an open mic blasting music in the background that you then have to mute.

Some people are just too lazy to PTT or PTM; so just learn to mute them and move on with your life.

Why do you have to put up such an argument over something most people agree should be in the game? Are you on some sort of anti-push to talk crusade? Man there always has to be someone to argue just to argue or go against the grain just because.

I'm trying to tell you PTT isn't going to solve your problem.

You realize Push To Mute is just the reverse of PTT; literally everyone on Windows 11 has the option to PTM regardless of game features and isn't using it, so why do you think PTT will change that?

I didn't even get into the types of trolls that blast stuff over PTT because they think it's funny; then you still have to mute even with PTT. Ran into this a lot in The Finals.

No matter how you slice it "I don't want to hear other people" is a poor argument for PTT because PTT will not solve your actual issue.

You want the devs to invest time, not only in this feature, but in making it work with the controller layout, which requires an entire redesign of the controller layout, then make a better argument than "I don't want to hear people" is what I'm saying.

It's got text chat for when you play with randoms, just turn voice off.
Monk Jun 20, 2024 @ 3:08pm
See I think voice chat should always be defaulted to on with push to talk turned on as default, not having comms in coop games sucks and anyone just muting it to cancel the small number of bad users frankly suck as team mates.

The idea to use a convaluted windows key combo (that honestly I and I'd guess most didn't know existed) as a counter to adding push to talk is ridiculous and controllers easily have enough button options, not that anyone should use a controller for an fps, even if they are on a console on a couch these says.

Didn't wanna quote the longer post to save space, but thank you for the windows mute shortcut. Had no idea, and it would let me turn on voice chat but not constantly be transmitting background noise/congestion/coughing. EDIT: LOL, only works on Windows 11, they never backported it to 10. Will still be useful when we're inevitably forced to upgrade eventually.
