Quick Personal Update: We have completed our move, my work area is set-up, and progress continues!

"What's going on with the next update!?"

Let's talk!

Patch 037 is well on the way, but has by far taken the most amount of time of any update as the game's last official update was the very end of January! Some of this was due to the move and our son's hospitalization (he is doing great now thank you!), but the main culprit is just the fact it is a very large update.

The increased map size is one of the biggest factors.

The game world is now prepped to be 2x larger. Why? Balance to accommodate horse, faster travel, and ensure the feel of it being a journey between major towns/villages. Before sending out the next Patch 037 I am wanting to reduce the "dead-time" of nothing to do on your trips. Don't worry, I'm not withholding the patch until it's 100% feature complete, but this means I would like to get a few more elements for testing in there. Mainly NPC quests, trades, and a few more interactions added in.

"So what's in the patch? And is it going to Beta first?"

To answer the 2nd point, Yes, the patch will be pushed to Beta first for you guys to do your thing. It's an incredibly helpful step to get initial feedback when hundreds suddenly get their hands on it. Once again, anyone can opt in to the Beta!

As far as patch content...here are the larger highlights:

There are several other things like changes to the Permit System, the Player Reticle is bigger and easier to see, more action feedback (progress circles and text for consuming items, mounting horses, equipping things etc), some more simplified controls like depositing and withdrawing money now has a bindable key, and several other things I will list in the Patch 037 update!

I'm striving for no more than another week or two and will of course keep you posted!

unable to withdraw

as the title suggests I cannot withdraw the coin from my purse it tells me LT + b and it doesn't do anything what's the step that I'm missing, I mean I'm very confused.

I dont know. I played for an hour and did the tutorial beforehand. I understand your wares get damaged when in rain, but that they simply ... explode or shatter into pieces when they get damaged enough is just a stupid design decision. At least let me sell them for a bad price or something. But how it is currently is not cool and not fun.

Work Continues!

As promised, I have my project up and running at the Airbnb while we wait to move into our home!

So what have I been working on this week?

Map Expansion and the final size of the game world:

This has been a complete map re-do!

It will be a little more spread out and less dense to keep performance in check, but the bulk of it has been ensuring roads are smooth enough (at least main ones) to allow for the faster travel and pace of horses pulling carts, as well as providing open areas for future tasks, interactive points of interests, and the need to camp and sleep during your travels.

Speaking of Horses and Carts

Progress and testing has gone well so far, it will be pretty cheesy at first but I'm looking for feedback on the system once I shoot the update to Beta Branch for those that love to test and give your thoughts.

Then I'll make necessary improvements to what's there before investing time into further features for them.

Basically....does your horse pull the cart with everything exploding etc.

Game Dictionary:

...this guy is getting an update as I start to test out putting in Contracts and Quests. It will also have Tutorial, Control, and Game Concepts information to help.

The Tutorial I am also working on integrating into the main game.

I won't say too much as I'm still testing and debating on the critical choice of creating a specific tutorial area vs popping up some info here and there as you play the game with an option to not receive notifications.

As I think we all have learned, there is a lot to get familiar with initially, so anything that keeps the feel of the game but provides a little easier of a learning bridge to the gameplay is great and needed.

Exploding crates.

Recently I've ran into a demoralizing event where I have finally saved up enough gold to make a big purchase of healing tonics and supplies from Ivernox. As soon as i loaded up the crates i had and turned to head out of town the crates literally disintegrate and spew shards of now broken vials all over the ground. That was all of the gold I had managed to save up and I just cannot bring myself to going back to picking mushrooms. Is this really a thing that is supposed to happen? Can crates be repaired so ...

slow on good hardware.

im playing the game on a 3060 with a 5700 amd and this thing is absolutely lagging. so far love the game but i log in its good. i got graphics on lowest setting. notmuch to really adjust. but im running at barely 10 fps at points and walking through the wilderness is undoable....

So this is a weird bug.. Inverted Crate Gravity.

One of my crates just decided after taking it out of my cart, placing on a table, that it chose "Screw Gravity" and just falls upward.. Its currently sitting on the roof of the trader stall. I am unsure why, or what caused it.

Early Access Review

This is my go to cozy game after a long day at work. The sound design is fantastic! The chimes that mark the beginning of each day bring me more joy than is probably reasonable. The scenery is also incredible, with the area around the city of Rakesfelm being my favorite.

It's still in the early access stage, so some of the content is a bit minimal in some areas. However, the dev is already working on updates for a lot of this, and a lot will probably change in the near future. I'm looking forward to seeing the new areas that have been hinted at in game. The dev is also really good about following up on bug reports and getting issues fixed up ASAP.

Over all, I would definitely recommend this game, just be chill with its early access state and stand by for new content. Any issues you run into probably won't be there in a month.
