A more serious game like Card Hunters?
So while i enjoy the game its self, i gotta say some of the humor and references can grow a little bit dulling after a time. Occasionally i'd like to take the story more seriously without your friendly neighborhood DM kid popping up at the top of the screen and trying to desperately hit on the Pizza Chick; i'm wondering if there are any games similar to Card hunters, but with a more serious bint to them; maybe not to self aware and self referencial. :s

The good news is that you only have to hear Gary's comments the first time you play a module. Once you finish the campaign he'll be silent until an expansion comes out.

The bad news is that there really isn't anything else quite like Card Hunter.

If you're looking for CCGs with tactical battles, there's Combat Monsters and Cards and Castles, but both were too simple for my tastes. Faeria and Duelyst seem to have more depth, but neither could hold my attention. None of them have a single player campaign worth mentioning.

Hex has a huge single player campaign (possibly already larger than Card Hunter) and truly embraces its digital nature to do things impossible for a tabletop game, but the battles aren't tactical.

There are other CCGs that have single player campaigns, including Magic Duels, Eternal, Chronicle Runescape Legends, Elder Scrolls Legends. But very few, if any, are tabletop/CCG hybrids that play quite like Card Hunter.

If you want to try something more traditionally tabletop. You could try Rurikar/BruceWillaker's "Unforgotten Realms", it's like a speedy version of DnD where you drop the character sheets and instead, use cards that represent your character's race/class/skills/and equipment, excelling at mini campaigns. It's currently not released yet and is still in development but you can check it out here: http://live.urealms.com/about

He also does a weekly campaign where he shows the progress of the game and the gameplay within Tabletop Simulator.

Maybe Dungeon Rats. Its not as wordy as some of the other CRPGs. Lots of tactical combat and very dark hehe.

Oh, also The Storm Guard: Darkness is Coming. Very good game.

LOTR LCG is supposed to be coming to PC soon, if they do the interface right it will have a massive amount of content. Its a gamble at this point given FFG's lack of computer game knowledge and ridiculous cost to own all content, but hopefully they do it right and don't get too greedy.

I do not see how that game is even close from Card Hunter or Labyrinth. this is just a basic card game we have seen thousand times around.

Does this mean, you can't disable Gary's audio comments?
I got nothing against childish humor now and then, but I almost quit halfway through tutorial dungeon because of sounds of him moaning and whining.
Stupid as they are, it's OK seeing text, but listening to him is really annoying...

There are volume controls in the options menu, but it looks like you'll have to mute everything to get rid of Gary. You might try deleting his files (GAR_*) from the audio directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\CardHunter\assets\audio

It would be nice to have a "voice" volume control that affects prompts, damage, and death audio.

Seriously? He has ONE WORD at a time. And only the first time through.
Have you seen the hidious 3-4 gigabytes or bloat and animation on Hearthstone
even when played on a phone?

The graphics are nice and simple, the way a card game/board-game should be.

The voice are soooo minimalist it's not worth mentioning.

Acually, the computer gets a really annoying voice in "Sky Citadel", the level
19-21 expansion, but even though it's a terrible intentionall-broken voice like
a broken record or CD, it's still there so infrequently, it's not a problem!
