Patch Notes - Update 0.25.14

Hello Bees,

Over the last few weeks we have made some corrections to the game while working on the next update. Below are some of the changes. Enjoy!

Fixed an issue where controls would occasionally stop responding, making gameplay smoother and more reliable.
The Esc key now works properly across all menus, including the main screen, for better navigation.
Added an alternative "Menu" button to prevent freezes and improve accessibility.
Resolved a bug causing the menu to disappear when pressing Esc after accessing settings.
Added informative HUDs to the Skills, Honey, and Weapons menus to help players understand their options better.
Fixed an issue preventing the menu from opening or combat from starting when loading the game.
Corrected a bug that caused the bee to freeze when opening the menu at the game’s start.
Adjusted the bee’s size at spawn to prevent it from appearing oversized.
The bee naming menu now allows proper selection.
Music now plays seamlessly when entering menus, without interruptions.
Improved wing layer visuals inside flowers.
Fixed errors when applying game settings, especially when opening menus.
Language changes now correctly update the menu to the selected language.
The item selector in menus when using a controller now remains visible and functional.
Fixed a freeze when using a controller in the bee naming menu, allowing names to be saved properly.
Item selection now displays correctly in the final game build.
In the skills menu, the focus animation no longer interferes when clicking top menu options.
Infected ants now appear on the enemy radar.
Fixed a softlock when talking in grandma’s shop.
After purchases in grandma’s shop, the player is now properly released to control the bee.
During the queen’s egg purchase cutscene, players can no longer move or buy extra items, preventing bugs.
The bee purchase screen now has fully functional selection and back button.
Fixed an issue where selecting a weapon and teleporting caused the game to enter slow motion.
Other minor corrections

The game is still in early access, and we’re doing our best to make it as polished as possible. If you run into any hiccups, we’d love to hear from you! You’ll find a bug report button in the game menu, feel free to share what happened (screenshots help too!).

Hello Bees,

This week has been very busy, and today we have some improvements for the game. Enjoy!

Bug Fixes - Update 0.25.5

Fixed: Weapon menu could be opened even at game start.

Fixed: Bees kept spawning even after their spawner was destroyed.

Fixed: Certain northern walls could be passed through.

Fixed: Player could move during the eagle cutscene.

Fixed: Fire flower could trap the bee and deal constant damage.

Fixed: Queen bee flying to objects inside combs and other hives when not intended.

Fixed: Popup issues on in-game objects.

Fixed: Night waves now trigger correctly, preventing nights from passing without attacks.

Fixed: Bees that died would respawn unable to attack.

Fixed: Particle effects during the wolf battle.

Fixed: Wolf’s area damage lacked proper depth and visual clarity.

Fixed: During the queen tutorial, dialogue would not work until leaving and re-entering (trigger adjusted).

Fixed: Sounds and actions still active after death.

Fixed: Grandma’s shop could trap the player and had item selection errors.

Fixed: Name selection with controllers; random names now adapted for each language.

Fixed: Laptop not rendering or interacting with the bee.

Fixed: Trigger to talk to the queen still failed under certain conditions.

Fixed: First movement tutorial appeared only in English.

Fixed: Missing translation on the name selection screen.

Fixed: Weapons loading incorrect or non-existent honey.

Fixed: Tutorial arrow activating at the wrong time and repositioned to face the player.

Fixed: Camera lowering during egg placement.

Fixed: After the weapon tutorial, it was impossible to drop or fire the weapon.

Fixed: Ant deaths not being registered.

Fixed: Honey inspection and abilities tab displaying errors.

Fixed: Grandma’s flying coins behaving incorrectly.

Tutorial re-ordered: battle segment moved further ahead, with gathering integrated into combat phase.

Added a chance for the queen bee to be captured.

Added destruction animation for pulley wood planks.

Added weapon unlock notification.

Reduced time before the frog begins attacking.

Revised frog battle music.

Implemented system to automatically assign bees to the correct weapons.

Weapons now have personalized names.

🐝 Update 0.25: …With Guns, and Ants, and More 🐝

Hey there, little bees! 🐝

Today we’re buzzing with the biggest update yet for Honey Bee, now officially called “Honey Bee With Guns” (a name that finally tells it like it is… and also sounds pretty cool when we tell people we’re making “that game with bees and guns,”😅).

If you want to jump straight to the juicy spoilers, just scroll down a bit. Just a heads-up: this version is not compatible with previous save files.

1 - Visual Improvements

The first thing you’ll notice is that we’ve given the entire game a visual overhaul!

New textures, new effects, more particles, more life, more chaos, the world of Honey Bee With Guns is more alive than ever.

Our main bee also got a much needed visual upgrade with a brand new model, making everything smoother and more expressive.

We recently showed off a demo at Gamescom Latam, where attendees got an early taste of this update. We’re super grateful for all the feedback we received, about the visuals, mechanics, audio, and more. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

2 - Tower Defense Mode

The hive must be protected... even from afar. In this wild world, defending your home is still the top priority. But now, you can do it in way more creative ways.

Bees can now carry and use weapons like mobile towers. That means you can secure key areas even while you're far from home.

You can also equip multiple collected or unlocked weapons, pistols, SMGs, whatever you’ve got lying around. Your bees will handle it.

This adds a whole new layer of tactical gameplay, custom loadouts, smarter defenses, and more dynamic battles. But remember: more towers means more bees. More bees means more honey.

3 - Home Sweet Home (Literally)

We’ve made a bunch of improvements to hive management, rebalancing costs and resources, and giving the hive a brand-new look.

4 - New UI & Magical Touches

The UI has been reworked!
From the color palette to item layout and interaction flow, we’ve added little polish everywhere to improve your experience.

5 - Ants, and More Bugs

Other insects can now interact with you, sometimes as friends, sometimes as foes.

But what are they doing? Where do they live? What are they planning? That… you’ll have to find out yourself.

And yes… we now have a dancing ant. No questions, please.

6 - Weather That Changes Everything

Rain may fall from time to time, but that’s just the beginning…

You’ll also encounter sandstorms, floating spores that can contaminate you, and other weather effects depending on the biome. So yeah... stay alert out there.

7 - What’s Next?

There’s much more to come, but it’s not quite ready 🐝

We wanted to release updates every 2–3 months, but this one took longer than expected because we tried to pack in so much stuff all at once.

Lesson learned, we’ll aim for smaller, more frequent updates moving forward!

Some content even had to be cut from this version just so we could release it at all… but don’t worry. Part Two of this update is coming soon-ish (this year, we promise! No pressure 😅).
