[Fixed] Game stuck at loading screen ~98%

I just got this game for Christmas. I get through the first campaign cutscene, then it goes to a loading screen that goes fast then stops at about 98% and just sits there animating for 3 minutes then the game crashes.

I'm using Avast and I disabled my shields and made the game an exception, didn't help. Variations of Administrator and game safe mode doesn't help. Followed a youtube video on how someone used an app called "Battle Encoder Shirase" to unstuck their game, didn't help me. Tried using GeForce Experience to force the graphics to minimum, didn't help.

I'm using latest windows 10, Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299
, installed 12/18/17. Latest Nvidia drivers. gtx 1080. i7 2600K. HD 7200 Western Digital. 16gb ram

There is a chance your save file is corrupted. Follow these steps and let me know if the issue has been solved:

Close the game

In Steam right click on CoD:IW > Properties > Updates > Uncheck Enable Steam Cloud Storage

Once unchecked, go to Local Files Tab > Browse Local Files

Go to 'players2' folder

Rename savegame.svg to savegame.svg.old

Restart the game and select the mission and difficulty

Tab out of the game and recheck Enable Steam Cloud Storage

Thank you for trying to help. However I haven't even gotten to a point where it makes the savegame.svg,

That folder only has config_mp.cfg

that's odd. Have you tried launching the campaign again, and then cheacking if the file appears?

I've tried at least a dozen times. Its the same issue each time. One odd thing about my setup is I had to put the game into a separate steam library on a different drive because of space limitations. I'm going to try uninstalling other games and juggling stuff around to make room on my Steam drive for Infinite Warfare.

I tried verifying my files after moving the install directory. I tried running the game's safe mode and normal mode.

Well I made room on my Steam games drive and moved Infinite warefare to it, that didn't help. The save game is never created. It keeps failing to progress at 98% on the loading screen after the end of the first cutscene where it shows the planet. It just animates for 3-5 minutes until windows says the application has stopped responding. No detailed error message.

Okay I finally fixed it. I had to go into my Avast AntiVirus settings and made my entire Steam Library an exception. I might be able to get away with just making the Infinite Warefare directory an exception, I'll try that later.

I tried making just the Infinite Warefare directory an exception earlier but that was when it was in a steam library on a different hard drive.

Update Windows and NVIDIA driver. The game started from Geforce Experience with Optimized Settings. It appears that Geforce Experience start must be used when change the game you play, especially when one game is older than the other.

Then it stopped again. I had to uninstall Bitdefender. The game restarts and works until now.

I know this is a old post but i just wanted to let you know that you can install bit defender but you have to disable protection. Just a thought you dont have to

I'm having a similar issue it worked for 3 hours an I tried playing online an then it just stop working an crashing also doing 98%load up an stays in same spot but the circle continues to move. I've tried going to properties an changing setting , task management for single core input, did the blocker virus add the game to the exclusive. Made it administered, trying downloading dx11 when I have dx12, idk what I'm missing I got a 1650 nav card with i3 core process chip game file like 111gb I have like 80 gb free after download. I'm working with asus tuff gaming laptop version fx505gt. Can someone help me figure this out

You just need to disable optimizations for window games or just disable it only for COD IW. it's in Windows settings>System>Display>graphics
