it not as though you can take items and weapons from the early games and use 'em in the sequels, and the games don't smoothly run from title to title in terms of story either. that said all 3 games are awesome
LOL...ff13 is more of a story driven linear game, has a great story and awesome charecters in it....ff13-2 is a stripped down version of the first one.
i really think the devs didnt follow up the first game good, and the chareecters i enjoyed in ff13 cant eeven be played with in ff13-2...you get 2 charecters and 2 monsters...stupid i think.
still ff13-2 is about just as linear as ff13 in spots and instead of beautiful cutscenes like ff13, you get alot of press a button to talk and a realtime in game voice over with subtitles....lol...so whatever floats your boat i guess...ff13 is amazing
if by "great story" you mean one of the worst written most 1 dimensional rpg storylines ever, than yes. it is amazing.
i have no idea how ff13-2 is, but dont waste your time with ff13. the entire story is terrible, all the characters are unlikeable and completely 1 dimensional until they take a u-turn in personality and become 1 dimensional in a different way.
yep...if you are a kiddie, well yes...you will have no comprehension of the story at all...great story and an excellent proverb sensei says...lol

please explain to me how powerless gods inside of robot-god armor (thats the creators description for the fal cie), who are compelled to protect and keep safe a self contained world, yet while being "unable to harm cacoon" are able to do exactly that, by creating super beings and forcing them down a path that leads to said destruction of the thing they are unable to destroy, is good writing.
then explain to me how characters with only a single persoanlity trait, taking a complete change in personality ONLY because you just beat down their racecar/motorcycle/spaceship that cant be used- summons, and STILL retain ONLY a single personality trait, is good charcter development.
please explain how terrible dialouge (NOT the voice acting, thats actually decent) that seems like it was written by a 12 year old who knew a few big words, is good writing.
please. if you TRULY think there is ANYTHING good about this game, explain it. dont just say "da story is gud an u must b a lil child to not l;ikes it trololol". i have yet to see a single person give ANY legitimate reasoning as to why the feel there is anything good about this game. because none of you can, because you hate this piece of crap too, you just wont admit it.
The stories are great to watch and read through.
But the battle systems of both just gets in the way of the actual game most of the time.
FFXIII battle system is sort of better in some ways. Whilst also being worse in other ways.
FFXIII-2 is easier in easy mode than FFXIII in easy mode. The latter not being available on the console versions iirc. (FFXIII easy mode that is)
They're definitely worthy games. But both have massive flaws that you have to be prepared to surmount to really get full enjoyment out of them.
They don't harm the residents of Cocoon directly, because they have a prime directive that says they can't. However, that doesn't mean they can't have others do it. It just means they can't do it themselves.
Their creator, Lindzei, was the one to create humanity, so it is natural that Lindzei fal'Cie can't harm them.
From the datalog entry on Eidolons:
It is said that they are saviors, come to rescue hopeless l'Cie who find themselves bound to a Focus against their will. If this is true, they offer a brand of salvation few indeed would seek willingly: without exception, Eidolons attack the l'Cie whose presences they grace.
Basically, Eidolons help the l'Cie reaffirming their beliefs when they deviate from their usual train of thought. You can clearly see this in-game, as characters are usually in situations that make them desperate or when they lost hope. Note that every playable l'Cie character has some kind of issue with having become l'Cie, though some seem to recover from the fact fairly fast (Hope being the one to complain the most vocally).
They don't completely change their personality, it is a gradual process that you can see in every character (aside from Snow, but he is out of the picture for a good part of the game and doesn't really change of the course of the rest of it).
I'm starting to think if you even paid attention to what was going on.
Matter of preference. I didn't really mind the dialogue.
Now you are putting words in people's mouths. Despite it's obvious flaws, I liked FF XIII. That you didn't like it doesn't mean that everybody didn't like it.
but thats exactly what the fal cie do. while yes, the DO still fight against the l'cie, but by forcing them to do the work for them, they are still doing it. just like if they moved their god armor (the form you see) to destroy cacoon themselves, they would still not be doing it directly. based on what they are, essentially powerless spirits inside of mechs, they are incapable of doing anything directly. so it makes no sense that they could destroy it indirectly one way, yet not indirectly a different way.
actually, up until the moment each summon shows up, the charcters are completely unchanging. its nothing but endless whining from 1 guy, super happy we-gone-get-it-done time from 1 chick, complete ♥♥♥♥♥ from 2 chicks, suicidal funny guy, and snow (who never really changes as far as ive been able to push myself through the game. hes always a cocky "im #1" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, with a few moments of crying in between).
then right before the summon comes around they are being exactly who they are, i.e. super ♥♥♥♥♥ to everyone, super suicidal, super ♥♥♥♥♥ again, super whinny, and i havent bothered to continue on the story as far as vanilla's summon.
then BAM. the exact opposite personality with still only a single trait. now im mrs. encourage everyone and gives a damn. now i want to live. now im not (as much of) a whinny ♥♥♥♥♥, now you guys are my friends. and of course snow, which is "SARAH SAID WE SAVE CACOON!"
ill concede on the bad dialogue being a matter of taste, but its still badly written. or at the very least, badly translated. it comes across as proper english and all, but extremely forced. not the voicing, but the script itself.
and lastly:
"yep...if you are a kiddie, well yes...you will have no comprehension of the story at all...great story and an excellent proverb sensei says...lol" followed by a meme picture, i.e. trololol
yeah. i didnt put any words into anyones mouth, i just said exactly what he said in a different way. and you are the first person to try and explain how anything was good, but unfortunately you formed your conclusions with no logic behind them, and clearly simply blind "the game presents it this way and thats why it makes sense".
and yes...you didnt understand thee story at all...it was wrapped up inside of the game which you were not bright enough to pick up on...just remember...faith and hope...thats what makes the real world go round...loosen that tie up b4 your head explodes...lol
