This is the usual pathway if everything is installed in the default location.
Just replace XXX with your Windows-username.

C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXIII-2

Usually AppData is a hidden folder and normally not visible.

The easiest way to get there is to type in %appdata% in the adress-bar from any windows folder (just pick any of yours).
That navigates you to C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming.
Now you only need to navigate one folder-level up open to the folder local.

I can't tell if this method works for Windows 8 or 10 (although it should) but up to windows 7 this works just fine.

Me too ^^ it was meant "... one folder level up and to the folder local".

If you have opened an folder already and used the command %appdata% there are two things you can do now:

- no. 1: go with the mouse to the adress bar and click directly on the word "appdata"
- no. 2: click behind the shown adress and then shorten the adress down to "C:\Users\XXX\AppData\" and press enter

Just choose one of those methods, because they do exactly the same thing.
My description may be bad. Just post again in this case.
Then i will make some screenshots, maybe it's easier that way.

The folder you're talking about, almost_smart, is if you're not using cloud saves.

If you are using cloud saves, which is likely, the default option, it's here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<Your Steam ID>\292140\remote

finally i found the right instructions! i have been looking for this for about two days. thanks guys

just a small correction: i did not have the directory for the local save, so i had to create the folder on this exact path:

C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXIII-2\save <- put here the remote saves

("XXX" is your windows user)

now i can play my saves off steam cloud, that was causing my game crashes.

thanks for all of your replies, i had to create the folder too! re-up for all those who have full screen crashes, my ff13-2 used to crash on full-screen (not on windowed) with steam cloud on, but if i turned it off the save wasn't readable so i had to create from zero the folder! thanks!!

Hey Gasspepe , I know this post is pretty old and all but could you help me out. I recently lost all of my saved data and I was wondering if there was any possible way you could upload one of your older save file? I was at the part right before you fight caius for the second time. I would really appreciate any help, thanks!
