2021 Buzzing Sound
Hey guys, so I'm having a bit of an issue. More so an annoyance. Whenever I start the game using the sound in my headphones, I get this buzzing sound in the left side of my headset. I hear the entire game, the opening music, and voices of the characters, everything. Including this buzzing sound. Does anyone have any information, or updated information if possible to eliminate this annoyance? Or is this game just extremely buggy for PC to be content anymore?

For anyone wondering what my headset is (if the brand makes a difference), it's a Corsair Void Elite Wireless. I haven't tried ALL my games that I have on my PC, but since I love this game, I've been wanting to play it for a while, and now I'm having this problem.

I'd appreciate any and all help guys. Please and thank you!

Which fix suggestions have you tried in the pinned Mega Troubleshooting FAQ? There's one specific suggestion for the buzzing sound in the FAQ. Also if you have additional problems, you may want to list your system specifications, as otherwise all the troubleshooting advice given to you are completely random guesses.

I've tried them all. The best thing I've been able to do is to play it using my speakers instead of headset. I know it's a headset issue, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm also unsure as to how knowing my PC's specs would make a difference unless it's the in-game specs instead.

Have you checked the Corsair forums? It looks like there are issues with "static". I don't know if that describes your buzzing correctly, but https://forum.corsair.com/forums/topic/137977-corsair-void-wireless-static-fix/

Apparently, Windows 11 causes audio buzz, see this topic: https://steamcommunity.com/app/292140/discussions/0/3079890849090431111/ Again, hard to know if the linked topic is any relevant for you since you didn't list your system specs.
I am also having this buzzing sound and I rebooted the game to trophy hunt

Hi! I also had this buzzing sound, I fixed it by turn down the sound quality to 16k Hz (not more and not less). Here's a screenshot of where the settings are under Windows 11 (it's in German tho): https://ibb.co/hVV6890

Ok i have find a video. You need to change FF13-2 ex compatibilty to vista. And activate "launch with administrator"; Solve my buzzing sound :)

I also experienced this on a new build (win11pro 21H2) and resolved it through simply running it in compatibility mode (In the propertied for FFXiii2Launcher.exe, set it to windows 7 compatibility mode). Tested this with no further changes to other settings.

Changing your audio settings only masks or lessens the prominence of the buzz, but does not remove the buzz. The lower the khz used in those suggested fixes, the less prominent the buzz became. In my experience the sound settings suggestions were not very well founded.

I have the same problem both on my speaker and earbud (both Realtek). I tried adjusting the compatibility to all avail options (Windows 7, 8 , Vista, Xp, etc.) on both launcher and the ffxiii2mg.exe but none of the solutions worked. If I change the compatibility, the game straight up does not load at all. Does anyone know how to remove the buzz sound? I really want to play the game but this buzz sound has been really annoying and I couldn't play it for a year

I solved this by disabling Windows Sonic for Headphones. It's under spatial sound when you right click on the sound settings in your system tray.
