Game won't launch in fullscreen!

So every time i try to launch my game in full screen, it will start and then the screen goes black and then goes away back to my desktop. Then i can't close the game or use my mouse cursor and i have to hit the windows key in order to restart my PC.

I disabled full screen optimization and then it finally worked for a while but literally the next day i try and start the game and then it does the same thing as before and won't launch.

I checked to see if full screen optimization was still disabled and it still was so at this point idk what to do :p

You have to disable fullscreen optimizations

Go to the file directory - i.e - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII-2\alba_data\prog\win\bin\ffxiii2img.exe
*Yours may be different if you have steam games saved else where*

Right click "ffxiii2img.exe", select "properties", then select the "compatibility" tab
Under Settings, check "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and apply.

Check if you game can now run in fullscreen. Worked for me, hope it helps someone else.

If it reverts back, change the DPI setting by selecting "Change High DPI Settings" and check "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program..." from the same compatibility window.

*Mine reverted back and once I set the DPI settings it stuck. Haven't rebooted my computer but did close and relaunch multiple times.*

What worked for me to enable full screen mode:
Downloaded FF13Fix and followed the install instructions:
https://github.com/rebtd7/FF13Fix/releases

Then went to my FFXII-2 folder in steam. Right clicked the FFxiii2launcher and disabled fullscreen optimizations.

After that, fullscreen mode worked. This process also worked for me on FFXIII.
