Game save with mods
Does anyone have a new game save with all the mods to this applied, such as the bestiary, unlocked clothing, etc. I don't want a 100 percent as I can do that myself, but I have trouble applying the mods and not breaking my game.

Well I guess I should of said a folder with all these mods, as I don't think a save would help haha.
I assume that you are talking about these mods here?: https://www.patreon.com/krisanthyme/posts?tag=Final%20Fantasy%20XIII-2

As the mods require updating files that are many gigabytes in size, really it's a lot quicker to apply the patches yourself. Where people go wrong though, is that these patches must be installed in a particular order.

The console content patch must be installed before any other simply because it adds things that have now been removed from the game, and to install it you can't just run the script and expect it to just work, you have to follow the instructions provided in a specific way. I did re-write them to try and make a little bit more sense as per the below:

That is the awkward one. Once this is installed all others should install fine. (The batch script for Leviathon's Tears wasn't installing for the japanese version of game, I don't know if it has yet been fixed, but it's to fixable yourself though)

That is awesome! After I apply this one do I have to apply any other straight after or can I choose which one after this? Like the Monster Mod?

Edit: Also if I do the Monster Mod do I allow it to replace files in the mod folder that the Console Content mod fixed or do I do an entirely different mod folder?

Edit 2: I did the Apotamkin's closet and it keeps crashing my game if I change into the console content patched clothing? What did I do wrong? Can I not run both at the same time?

I don't know about Apotamkin's closet as I haven't tried that mod myself, so I can't say as to whether it works or not.

All of the patches are applied to the game files, so the mods will essentially be overwriting the same files multiple times.
FINAL FANTASY XIII-2\alba_data\sys (and udp)

The monster mod, requires the CC patch to be installed to display everything correctly anyway.

If you extract each mod into it's own folder, eg FFXIII-2 - Monster Mod Pack (v1.2.18) you can see they all have their Mod subfolder within that. It's that mod's individual folder that is being referred to.

Judging from what has happened, it sounds your game files might be busted now somehow, I would recommend that you start from the beginning again. Either verify the game files in order to revert the game back to it's release state or copy a backup of the folder contents back into game files.

If you didn't backup before starting modding, I would recommend making a copy of the below folders so that if something goes wrong you can easily revert them back to the original game state without having to download a fair few gigabytes again.
\FINAL FANTASY XIII-2\alba_data\sys
\FINAL FANTASY XIII-2\alba_data\udp

I would recommend only applying each mod in turn and don't try installing all at once. i.e.

- extract the mod into its own exclusive folder
- copy the relevant game files into that folder.
- run the patch, making sure that no errors occur.
- if the patch successfully installs, then copy the game file back into the game folder.
- run the game, and ensure the the mod works correctly.

Once done, you can then install the next mod you want.

Always make a backup of the game when installing mod files in case something goes wrong.

I got the monster mod pack to work and its great, caius is easily the most fun character to play since as soon as he staggers he lets the crazy spells loose.

Kudos to jester for helping out the OP, altho I also have a question of my own. If I want to install new mods, what do I do with the old mod folder as new mods have their own mod folder? I'm a bit confused by that and a little to worried I might mess up my current mods messing with it.

Also to the OP, just a little tip the easiest way to see if your monster mods worked if you can boot the game up afterwards is to check caius bestiary if it says tamable one one it worked.

Providing you extract the downloaded mod into its own individual folder, there is no reason for anything to go wrong - barring installing them in the wrong order (ie. attempting to install the console content patch last for example)

Once the a mod installed and the games files have been moved these files have served their purpose and can be deleted. You could keep the archived download files if you need to keep them for whatever reason, but there is no need to keep the extracted version floating about.

So basically I could just delete the old mod folder in my steam directory?

Thanks I was told this by a friend as well but I kinda wanted to confirm it, I'll test it out.
I've heard there's a fang mod out there somewhere, would love to play fang in 13-2.

Would also love to see even more mods, this is probably my fav game on steam. Thanks for being helpful.

you can, yes.

It's my personal preference, but with this type of mod which changes the game files directly, I generally tend to work from a different folder entirely, and copy the necessary game files over to it, that way it keeps the game folder and file structure tidier, so it's easier to what is or isn't needed. It does take more time though.
