Coliseum thread
So who have you beat/unlocked in the coliseum yet?
I got amodar, jihl and lightning so far, and I've beat omega.
The others I cant beat yet at all, even pupus are tough, gilgamesh is impossible for me as of right now.

If anyone wants to share advice on how to topple these guys feel free to share.

When are you able to fight in the Coliseum? I've done the brief visit to get the fragment and explored for treasure.
All DLC including the coliseum are unlocked once you've viewed the main game ending.

Coliseum boss battles are fun. I need to use a specific setup to beat gilgamesh. Also had trouble with the octopus. Other bosses are not too bad. I didn't have too much trouble with Valfodr. His moveset is very routine.

J whats your setup for snow? and Gilg?
jclee4843 Mar 16, 2018 @ 6:30am
For Gilgmesh, I used this. My monsters are COM Lightning, Cloudburst, and Goblin chieftain
Serah/Noel/Monster
com/com/com
rav/rav/rav
sab/sab/sen
med/med/sen

Forgot the last 2 paradigm. It might have been a mix of med, syn, and com. Cloudburst and Goblin provided all the buffs I need.

I used similar setup for Snow, but you need to have a different Sen on each paradigm in order to get snow to cool down.

What gear are you using, cuz snows got a move that hurts bad, and gilgamesh I cant seem to cause much damage to, I'm using amodar, jihl, and sazh.

It seems that I need a strong sentinel monster right?

Snow is easy if you know what you're doing, but the battle can take a while. Use your Saboteurs to dispel and debuff him. On one paradigm, have a Sentinel monster with Provoke, and on another paradigm, have either Serah or Noel as a Sentinel, and keep Provoking Snow. Whenever Snow gets successfully provoked, he'll switch targets, and his power gauge will reset. If you let the gauge rise to 500%, he'll use Sovereign Fist, and you'll lose. Meanwhile, keep building up his chain gauge with your Ravagers, and use your Commandos to slowly drain his HP.

For Gilgamesh, there's two viable strategies. A) If you're strong enough to deal over 5.6 million HP damage during a single stagger, you can skip his powered-up form, but B) if you're not, you'll just have to endure against his powered-up form. For both strategies, I recommend using Cloudburst, Goblin Chieftain and your strongest COM (V. Lightning for me). First get him nearly staggered, then have Goblin Chieftain use his Feral Link to buff you. When he's staggered, immediately have Serah manually cast Deprotect, Deshell and 3x Imperil on Gilgamesh, then switch to Tri-Disaster, use Cloudburst's Feral Link to further buff you and give you Enfrost, and build the chain up to at least 700%. Then use two Cerberus paradigms to attack him, using ATB refresh to deal damage faster. If you need to heal, use items with a Grimoire Hat equipped. Make sure his health doesn't fall below 4.6 million HP, or he'll enter his powered up form. When his stagger is over, he heals himself for one million HP. Now, repeat the strategy until he's staggered again.

If you go for strategy A), you'll have to deal 5.6 million HP during the next stagger to kill him. In addition to ATB refreshing, use your COM monster's Feral Link and Noel's Meteor Javelin when the stagger is about to end. If you go for strategy B) (or strategy A) fails) and Gilgamesh enters his powered-up form, always switch to Tortoise when he's about to use Divider (after stagger, and when he strafes). While the powered-up form forces you to defend and heal a lot, you'll still need to use Commandos occasionally to stop his chain gauge from falling. Use paradigms like Mystic Tower to stagger him (using Tri-Disaster is most likely too risky), use Goblin Chieftain's Feral Link, and when he's staggered, debuff him manually, switch to Tri-Disaster, use Cloudburst's Feral Link, build chain up to 700% and finish him off with two Cerberus paradigms. If this isn't enough to kill him, switch to Tortoise to survive Divider, then repeat strategy B).

So cloudburst, goblin chief and a good com are the way to go.

Nice, but is Amodar good? Usually Chichu and COM lightning are the choices because they can armor break. And lightning can break damage cap

Amodar hits 99999 stagger on snow with feral link, so yea he's pretty good, I dont like chichu he's annoying, and my lights a ravager so cloudburst works best.
Love when amodar uses his ammo lol. I haven't maxed his power yet tho he's just level 10, farming power crystals is a pain.
