Stuck at tutorial

So I was going to get some FF action on, but 2 minutes into the tutorial both Lightning and the boss enemy model disappeared and only the menu items are available. I can still attack, but I'm no longer hurting the enemy, neither is he hurting me. I've tried to retry a dozen times and restart the game, but it happens every time. Skipping the tutorial doesn't work either.

Any fix to this? I really want to play this game, as it's one of few FF games I've missed.

My specs:

Core i7 4790K @ 4GHz
16G DDR4
Geforce GTX 1080 FE
Win10 Pro
Acer X34 ultrawide

I set the resolution to 3440x1440 even though the game clearly doesn't support it. Maybe I should try a 16:9 resolution instead?

Unfortunatelly, there's many problem with this game. To play it I had to :
- Disable cloud save in steam (otherwhise the game would crash during autosave)
- Play in 1280x720 in window mode (otherwise models becomes messed up and the game would eventually crash)
