Game crashes when starting

I'm having problems starting the game, the launcher opens, but the game crashes immediately after starting it, I get a few flashes then a "has stopped working" message, if I run it in fullscreen, if I run it in windowed mode nothing happens, does anyone have any tips?

you know if you had looked a bit harder on the tech support forum you would have found help since there has been so much trouble with this.

If your Graphics card is NVDIA, try set ffxiiiimg in high-performance .

After trying the DEP thing and it still not working i almost gabe up, then i saw this thing above ^
although i i had AMD and not NVDIA card, i decied to try and see if i could find this in the control center for AMD, and would you not know it, i found it and it worked adding it.

(Mine is the Catalyst card so i will be using that name)

Go to: AMD Catalyst Control Center => Gaming => 3D Application Setting => Add ffxiiiimg.exe => it should auto-apply, but to make sure press apply. => play the game.

I will add that the game stutters like ♥♥♥♥, but exiting the game and plugging in a a control got rid of it for me.

Thanks, I went to look again but hadn't found this particular answer. Still this solution does not work for me, neither does any combination of compatibility options or launching as an admin.

If you have a second monitor, disable it befroe launching fullscreen (press "win key + p" a few times).

This didn't work either, none of the combinations once again.

I've had this problem re-appear after restarting my system and nothing I do seems to fix it either. People keep mentioning the DEP and Max Performance 'fix' as if it always works but it's clearly not working for a large portion of people.

So I contacted square support and received an answer that worked for me.

We would recommend trying a selective startup before launching the game. Use the System Configuration Utility to perform a clean boot:

1) Click Start
2) Click Run
3) Type MSCONFIG
4) Click OK. This will load the System Configuration Utility.
5) On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the check box "Load Startup Items".
6) Click Apply.
7) Click Close. Then Reboot your PC

This will stop most of the extra software loading when windows boots, this is simply to check if it is another program on your PC that is causing this. In order to restore your PC to a normal boot follow the steps above again and on the General tab choose Normal Startup, Apply and ok.

After doing so I started the game and it seemed to not do anything for around 20 seconds, almost causing me to give up again, but then, It started. and it works.

This method did mean that no programs started up with windows, meaning I had to set up my internet connection to my wifi again and having to start up steam.
