Game won't start

So I bought this game 3 days ago and got it downloaded about an hour ago. I launch the game and it gives me config menu where I can set-up my setting.. <--- This is supposed to happen.
I click the Start Game button and wait for like 20sec nothing happens and then steam pops up message "Final Fantasy XIII Stopped Working (Error Code 51)" WTF ?!

I have tried to solve this problem on my own but cant find any solutions :P

Thing I have done so far:
-Uninstalled Antivirus software
-Re-loaded ClientRegistery.blob
-Removed FFXIII from firewall
-Ran on lowest graphics on windowed mode
-Tried to run FFXIII while ALL other programs shut down with only steam open


My Steam folder is on my SSD drive that dosen't have any space left (2gb) and my SteamLibarary in on my SATA Disk with only FFXIII in it. This might be the problem but im not sure how to set my Steam folders to my SATA Disk without any damage.

AND NO, I DONT HAVE F-SECURE SO DEEPGUARD ISN'T THE PROBLEM HERE!!!

Same problem here. I played the game until yesterday. Today LoucherXIII crash on start.

I don't get an error code but nothing happens after the launcher, I can't figure it out :(

I'm willing to bet it's a combination of not having enough space and using software (antiviral) that completely hijacks your system with all sorts of security redundancies that do nothing but cause problems. (finely tuned common sense is better than any antiviral program...)

You're best bet is to reinstall windows if your system is that dirty...

You might also want to post your system specs and driver versions.

Got it working, just Verify Catche from FFXIII Properties and it will install something worth of about 3GB then it works like a dream !

I have this problem too, since the last update. It seems this update broke the game for myself and many other users. I contacted Square-Enix Support and they told me to update all drivers, windows and delete and re-download the game. still no dice. I replied and sent a DxDiag statement as they requested as well as asking for an update to fix the game and stating I am not the only gamer who's FFXIII Got Broken. I hope a new update comes out soon to fix this shamozzle!

Final Fantasy XIII-2 does work on my rig though o.O

Yep, that's what I did, and it worked like a charm. Damn DEP, hate ya...

Yup it was that ****ing DEP!

What helped for me was disabling HID (Human Interface Device).

Device Manager --> under Human Interface Devices disable anything that is HID. I suspect it is only of these that is causing the problem though.

I have Windows 7 SP1. I do not have DEP turned on with exceptions. Changing DEP settings had no effect for me.

It finally works, thank you very much, i was trying many solutions, I will surrend but it finally works, YEEES!

I have the same problem with final fantasy xiii, I hit start choose my settings and then two seconds later I'm back to hit start again like I never started the game up at all. But final fantasy xiii-2 and lightning returns both work perfectly it really is quite annoying.

Al final encontré en un foro la solución. Prueba a buscar en la carpeta de Steam>steamapps>common>FINAL FANTASY XIII>white_data>prog>win>bin y selecciona ffxiiimg. Lo arranqué desde ahí y me funcionó.

Otra solución es en Configuracion avanzada del sistema>Opciones avanzadas>En rendimiento clicas Configuración>Prevención de ejecución de datos y le das a la segunda opción y a Agregar. Cuando le des a Agregar, selecciona el archivo que te he puesto mas arriba, es decir, ffxiiimg (ya te dije cómo llegar a él en el punto anterior) y por último es FUNDAMENTAL REINICIAR EL PC.

Con estas dos opciones deberia arreglarse el problema, suerte!!!

The game stopped working for me quite a while ago. I don't get an error message but what happens is I click the Play button from the config launcher and it immediately crashes. I'm even on a new Windows install and I have plenty of storage space and pc power for it to run.
