If you've just arrived on Pulse, you're right. Adamantortoise is not meant to be fought yet. I wouldn't attempt it without max stage 8 primaries, some stage 8 secondary development, and t2-* weapons, and even at that point I'd probably use a Summon to kill the legs. It's a lot more realistic to fight one once you have stage 9 available, but most people wait until stage 10 is open in postgame.

I've already finished the game and have everyones crystarium maxed. I have Light and Fang's ultimate weapons but NOTHING is hurting this guy. His legs have like a million HP each and his stomp attack kills my whole party in 2 hits. Even if I use a summon he just gets back up and I'm not doing enough damage to him..even staggered!

usually i dont fight those until ive the crystarium maxed in every role, 2 item for +def and 1 for +def from earth; i use light/fang/hope, and if you use light as leader when you are a rav dont use melee attacks but ranged attacks; t2 weapons are enough

Short version: use Earth element damage reduction (or physical damage reduction) to protect yourself from stomp damage, use Fang's Highwind to kill the legs, and try to stack buffs, debuffs, and chain percentage to kill him off in a single fall.

Long version (technically Adamantoise but Adamantortoise are very similar): http://etrosgate.com/xiii/farming/oretoises

This, get some Gaian Rings/Clay Rings/General/Champ Belts/Royal/Imperial Armlets/ Etc. Any of these will help immensely when dealing with his stomp dmg.

You say your not doing enough dmg to him when he is staggered, just debuff him real fast then go all out. Like SAB/RAV/SAB to roll out debuffs and get that chain up, then switch to COM/COM/COM to burn him down fast. If you still can't put out enough dmg, then buff yourself with some fortisol before battle.

Vanille summon for the win.

COM/COM/SAB with a SAB who knows Daze will pump out more damage than COM/COM/COM as long as you time your attacks to occur during the Daze spam. Vanille Summon isn't something that you should be using once you're past early postgame.

once you put the debuff the sab is useless, com does more dmg than a single magical attack from sab

Daze (in addition to its normal function) doubles the damage of the next attack that hits the Dazed target. That attack will dispel Daze, but Daze does have a short minimum duration, which means you get double damage from every attack that happens while a SAB is spamming and successfully inflicting Daze. A staggered Adamantoise or Adamantortoise has a high enough chain to give Daze a 100% chance of success. Therefore, with proper attack timing, the SAB will double the damage of your COMs, giving you effectively 4xCOM damage, which is clearly superior to 3xCOM damage.

In practice, it's difficult to completely sync up everyone, but even with imperfect sync you can deal more damage than you could with COM/COM/COM, and you get this benefit without having to worry about the attack stats of your Daze-spammer, opening up easy accessory space for things like Collector Catalog, Growth Egg, etc. Furthermore, this approach doubles the effectiveness of your first two tier 3 weapon upgrades (within the context of this fight) if you're choosing to develop weapons that far.

This. Those things are just a pain to fight toe to toe until you've at least maxed the 3 primaries. Even then you'll need a medic at all times whilst you take out the legs. Tortoise paradigm helps a lot to mitigate the stomp damage. Base level tier 2 weapons are a must to kill it in one stagger.

Minimize earth damage/ beat legs down, cast a bunch of dispels, increas stagger to 999, use highwind for his entire HP bar, eat snacks

You should have Sen/Sen/Sen for when you are about to be hit by a "quake" or a "roar" attack.
Using triple Sen will decrease the damage you take.

I got him down finally. I used Fang as leader and had 3 SEN's and 3 MED's, COM/RAV/RAV for the legs and 3 COM's when he's down and staggered. Is there a better Paradigm for taking down his legs? That's the most time consuming part for me.. If I can take out his legs faster I won't have to switch to Tortoise and then Salvation so often.
