So um... don't hit the ESC (escape) key.
They aren't playing around. When you hit the escape key, the game quits and you escape straight to the desk top. I was accustomed to pressing esc to skip through dialogues and close menu's etc. Bad idea. Don't do it and save often until you get used to it.

You don't check the controls for the game you are playing? It clearly says in the control section that ESC is the exit key.

If you play in window mode it will ask you if you want to quit. In full screen mode it is a automatic exit with no prompt.

Best way to play is with a controller anyway.

They made it to troll so if you wanted to skip dialogues, you get back where you last saved

He "clearly" said that he was accustomed to using escape to skip cutscenes (presumably in other games) and it simply exited in this game. So calm down guy.

It's also just bad design and obviously a bug since it works how you would expect if you are playing windowed. The game needs patching.

No they don't...

Even in most JP PC games, ESC would be pause.

Uhh, no. Most Japanese PC games does this.
And most PC games from the other 195 countries on Earth, don't.

It was my mistake to say "most", but I have encountered some indie Japanese games that does this, so it wasn't all that surprising.

I still think this is very stupid. Esc key should never quit the game especially with no prompt. It is a universal design. It just goes to show how out of touch with the outside world most Japanese devs are when it comes to PC gaming.

Devs like Capcom,Konami, Sega,Koei Tecmo or Namco Bandai or whoever they hire? Oh wait.
esc exiting the game is retarded as ♥♥♥♥

Like i already said in another thread about this topic: That the ESC Key kicks you to the Desktop without warning IS A BUG.
If you play the game in Window Mode you get a prompt " Do you want to exit the game? Yes/No" when pressing ESC.
Only in fullscreen it crashes the game instead.
Just another part of a terrible port.

What are you implying? They've made good ports but that's about it. Name me a Japanese dev that has made a PC game from the ground up that is big? None. I don't think Japanese devs are also competent in using game engines like UE, CryEngine, Source, etc. Name me also of great mods that are from Japan. I think it's gonna be difficult for you to do that. The fact is PC gaming is and apparently will never be big in Japan. It follows that the companies won't be knowledgeable much in the PC market unless they focus their business outside of their home country.

Im implying that there are more than enough japanese devs that know how to make or port a decent pc game and that they shouldnt lumped together with lazy ass publishers like SE.

Of course is gonna be difficult if you cant read a single word of japanese to find japanese mods.Like i could not name russian mods heck i cant even name a great german mod even though im from germany.

Seems like a poor buisness decision to me trying only to appeal to 130 million people .

Umm.. Actually I live in Tokyo and can read Japanese. Studied the language for 2 years here and am currently enrolled in a game development course. Teachers don't mention Western games, Western game companies (except EA and MS but that's about it), and Xbox. I have yet to meet a Japanese who knows what Blizzard Entertainment is.

I am aware of doujinshi games but they're mostly VNs and SHMUPs.

Smartphones now take a significant share of the Japanese game market.

There are no Japanese games that provide mod tools to players that I am aware of. Please provide me such a game.

When I go to a PC game section, most of what I see are anime games including hentai. Steam is still unknown here in Japan.

I saw gaming laptops and PCs being sold but guess what game it was running? FF XIV. Seriously, if Steam doesn't exist and I have to buy physical copies of PC games, living here would be a nightmare.
