Is Final Fantasy 13-2 less Hallway-y?
I like this game a lot, Combat is some of the best I've ever seen in an rpg, and the story is pretty decent.

Only complaint I really have is that when I come to a foresty area I kinda just wanna run wild in it and well... I can't really.

So does that improve in the sequel?

Also does Lighting show more emotions in the sequel? She's rather stoic and I want her to be sad or happy or SOMETHING

yes but the story, jpopish music and characters are kinda awfull, lightning returns is much better
I like jpop so.

I dunno I just kinda want more character background/development. You know just more characterization in general.

After chapter 8 there are less hallways. I'm doing the countdown as I play until I reach that part

I personally prefer 13 but 13-2 is the better game. The combat system is refined (no animation lock when switching Paradigms). The level design is more similar to the 2D FF games where a dungeon has that one path but you got all these other little paths you can explore for items and such. It also has actual hub zones where you can talk to NPCs and buy from them.

As far as story goes...its good but I prefer 13s. The new characters they introduce though are awesome. Some of the new music can be hit or miss with people but I personally LOVE it but prefer 13s battle theme.

Can't say anything about 13-3 as I got turned off by the demo.

13 13-2 13-3
they are progressively getting more and more open.

13 being the least open
13-3 being the most open

Pretty much, they learned their lesson after 13..

13-3 was best combat for me but worst in rest due too that time system and bad quest system

Yes it gets more open with each sequel.

Aside from the 2 regions in Lightning Returns, I didn't like the single character gameplay. For me, I always felt that I had to have a party in a JRPG. Hence, FF13-2 is my favourite. Pet system + time travelling story, it's pokemon and chrono trigger combined :).

Music wise, LR felt like it didn't have that many tracks(although it does), that's because some are taken and re-used from FF13 and FF13-2, especially the battle themes. LR's music had a more darker feel to it, and of course that was intentional and appropriate, whereas the music in FF13-2 was much more cheery and brighter for most parts of the game.

yea il admit despite flaws in 13 its combat was fun and can be challenging too try and get 5 stars constantly

LR imo is by far the best game of the 3 imo. With the best combat system, and so many different builds and strategies that work and are fun to toy with.

But it has the the Worst Graphics, most glitchy, and no party.

That along with FF12 and the MMO's are the most open ones.

FFXIII-2 is more open, but it's more of a maze going with lots of different routes to different time zones. But still fairly narrow like FFX, and FFXIII-2. And has some pretty neat time mechanics (that they also use to recycle zones, but its still fun imo).
