FFX also had a more traditional turn-based combat system which was far more enjoyable than mashing A. (which is what you do for most the game in FFXIII)
-Side Note: I beat FFXIII twice, and consider it a good game, just not as good as my experience with FFX. I also had a better experience with Star Ocean the Last Hope which was released the same year as FFXIII (made by Square Enix)
For me it was the exact opposite. I hated the cast of X (except Auron) but liked the Cast of 13 (except Snow and sometimes Vanille). But unlike some other people on the steam forums i can respect different opinions and enjoy discussing them instead of running around the Internet telling anybody FFX is the worst thing ever dont buy it. Why cant people just share different opinions without shoving them down each others throats and spreading hate?
I'm not sure xD I'm guessing nostalgia plays a part, but everyone has different opinions and feel different ways about character / story driven games.
For example, FFXIII had very poor male characters...Snow was a "tank" and just wasn't very effective in battle. Hope was a crybaby that whines too much. (I hate that kid) Fang, Lightning, and Vanielle seemed to be the best match in battle at least.
Edit: Oh yeah and that black guy Sanzh? Eh barely remember him.
FFX had a good mix of both genders who all had strengths. Tidus, Auron, Yuna, LuLu, Rikku
(I didn't like Wakka or that beast guy, but some people love Wakka lol)
I don't want to copy/paste what I typed in the other topic and be spammy, but the short of it is regarding this topic that FFX just did it in a way that appealed to people better, and actually had towns and neat side characters and sidequests. Backtracking is also possible in FFX, and not so for most of FFXIII.
It's okay to start out as a emotional kid, but I think there should have been a point where he grew up and stood up for himself which just never happened throughout the entire game. (Tidus was also somewhat of a "crybaby" at the beginning, but grew into a more independent character)
alot of people did not like most of the attempts
I can get how even if there are reasons some people may not like that kind of drama though. I just thought it was fairly believable how they wrote him.
