Sufficient VRAM
So, upon starting the game I get a fatal error stating that "Could not secure sufficient VRAM" then the game closes itself. I've tried looking for some fixes and the most common one seems to be entering my BIOS and switching something around. Which i'm pretty uncomfortable doing. Is there anyone else with this error? any other kind of fix? Any help at all could be appreciated.

What video card are you using?
Hog Feb 10, 2015 @ 3:15am
AMD radeon HD 8750
Its probably using your igpu
i'm not sure whether you could turn off igpu in laptops.

It's a desktop, but I have no idea myself. I didn't like the game at first but thought I'd give it another shot on PC, but then it doesn't work. Upsetting, really.

You give too few details... Are you using a Laptop, what model is it and are your graphics integrated? Laptops tend to have integrated graphics instead of dedicated VRAM. Two major differences: if you're using integrated graphics, it will use some of your system ram- which is not VRAM. On a discrete gpu, the graphics card has dedicated VRAM on the card itself.

Sorry, made this thread when i was super tired. I'm on a desktop
My specs are:
CPU: AMD A8-6600K 3.90GHZ
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 8750D with 768 MB VRAM
RAM: 8GB

768 mb of RAM on your graphics card? Does sound like an onboard one to me. Can you increase the amount of memory of the graphics in your graphics driver?
Seems most games nowadays require at least 1 gb video memory to run.

I'm unsure, I'm actually pretty Computer illiterate, unfortunately. But according to CanYouRunIt and Steam sysreqcheck I pass minimum requirements.

+1, same problem.

When I check "steam://checksysreqs/292120" into navigator... steam says that my computer pass the minimal requeriments....

My DxDiag says:

Yeah Dx Diag is wrong, according to my Dxdiag I only have around 86 mb on my Graphics card. I'm assuming it has something to do with the VRAM checker being faulty, in which case they should probably just remove it.

EDIT: My Dxdiag is as follow:

Chip Type: AMD Radeon HD 8750D (0x990E)
DAC Type: Internal DAC (400MHz)

you may want to upgrade your gpu to a 2gb vram or higher. If not able to try the run the game on all the lowest setting and see.

I have a factory low end slow Gcard (GT620) that came with the desktop and the game runs fine for me. It has 2Gb VRAM, so thats probably why it still runs good then.

yep less then 2gb vram would run bad on this game. The lowest I seen this game run is 2gb vram I seen people with 1gb vram with bad issues.

The 8750D is integrated into the APU and does not have any dedicated video memory available at all. I'll explain to you how it works, but rest assured this is not why the game refuses to boot for you. It runs on my 4770K's HD 4600. I personally would suggest a fresh driver reinstall and going on your BIOS to raise the shared memory as high as it'll go, otherwise i'm as clueless as you. I wouldn't bother since I know you won't enjoy the game anyways, it's a very slow chip you've got and this game has severe optimization issues.

Anyways, many games do not work at all if they detect that a graphics processor does not have any available dedicated video memory, so the system allots a small portion of system memory to forge a fake framebuffer (that is the amount deducted from Windows address space, as you can see on your system info something like "Total memory: 8,00 GB (usable: 7,95 GB)").

This amount is tiny (usually from 8 to 128 MB) and insufficient to run anything, but it should fool applications into thinking the computer has an actual graphics card. That is why dxdiag reports an insanely low amount of available video memory.

Performance on AMD APUs and Intel HD Graphics (4600+) and Iris Graphics (5100+) is directly tied to the speed of system memory, and performance on both these integrated solutions will be substantially better with DDR3-2133 or faster memory. DDR3-2400 should yield about 38.4 GB/s, which is higher than most low end graphics cards around.

The Intel Iris Pro is the fastest and only integrated GPU with dedicated video memory on the market right now, a 128 MB L4 cache present on Crystalwell (Haswell GT3e) and (larger, but yet unknown since they're not released) Broadwell CPUs.

Game "works" on 512 MB graphics cards, got that on my laptop... thought I told you about it :) [/quote]

Thanks for all the info. It's a shame but it seems if i want to be able to run and/or have a fun experience with the game, I'll need to upgrade my graphics. That's kinda disappointing, but I bought it on sale, so not a lot of money lost. Cheers again.
