You get about 13K with the double exp egg, with a 20s battle at the most!
Here is a list of all the spots that I consider to be worthwhile for grinding; unless otherwise noted, the recommended spots give both good CP and good gil/component drops ("good" is measured relative to where these spots are in the game). Disclaimer: I don't generally encourage grinding, but if someone wants to grind these are the spots:
Chapter 2 (Fortisol/Deceptisol): the hall of single ghouls with Lightning and Sazh shortly before finding Serah (aim for 0-stars; this is 33 seconds with Gladius and Power Wristband on Lightning). Respawn by going back to the previous area.
Chapter 4: after Lightning rejoins (making your party Sazh/Light/Vanille) and before fighting Dreadnought, go back to the 3-way battles that you went through with Sazh and Vanille.
Chapter 4 (Aegisol): the 2x Gremlin fight in the 2nd Sazh/Vanille section (aim for 0-stars; time will vary based on development). Respawn by running back to the area with the save point.
Chapter 5 (CP only): the group of 10 Crawlers. Use the nearby elevator to respawn.
Chapter 7: just about any soldier group in this chapter is decent if you can respawn them easily. I think the best groups are the Orion + Soldiers fight with Fang/Light (respawn at the entrance stairs), and of course the groups in Hope's house, although there may be other good spots.
Chapter 8 (CP only): the 1x and 5x Zwerg Metrodroid fights guarding treasure spheres (they respawn each other)
Chapter 9: again, most soldier fights are good for grinding on. The bridge area at the end of the chapter is particularly nice.
Chapter 10 (CP only): the 10x Noctilucale fight (respawn by returning to the main corridor)
Chapter 10: the 4x Circuitron fights
Chapter 11 (CP only): the Behemoth King/Megistotherian fight
Chapter 11 (gil only): Chocobo digging on the Steppe after Chocobos are unlocked
Chapter 11 (CP with mild gil): the side tunnel in Mah'habara. Also the 6x Cryohedron fight in the Abandoned Dig of Mah'habara.
Chapter 11 (mild CP with gil): Mission 24
Chapter 11 (difficult to setup early): Adaman(tor)toises/Mission 63
Chapter 11 (CP with mild gil, difficult pre-postgame): Faultwarrens missions to Flowering Cactuars
Chapter 11 (awesome CP with decent gil, extremely difficult before late postgame): Shaolong Guis
Chapter 12 (difficult to setup early): the Adamantoise
Chapter 12 (mediocre compared to anything else in chapters 11-13): Siren Park (exploit the 3-way battles) or Edenhall
Chapter 13 (decent CP, awesome gil, Scarletites): the 4x Sacrifice fight during the first segment of the chapter (respawn on the nearby ramp; only awesome after triggering the first large section of the Tesseracts and before fighting Jabberwocky and Bandersnatch, but still decent for gil without the ramp when you also kill the 3x Sacrifices and respawn by save/quit/reload or by exiting/reentering through portals).
Chapter 13 (awesome CP only): the repeatable 1x Wladislaus fight (respawn by riding the elevator down and running to the save platform; only available after fighting Wladislaus and before entering the Narthex)
* special: Long Gui's, for Trapezohedrons only
* special: Shaolong Gui's, primarily for Dark Matter (note: technically Shaolong Gui is the best CP/hour in the game if you can beat it quickly and consistently when CP farming still matters)
Anything I didn't list is something I've overlooked (unlikely) or that I consider worse than something convenient and on the list. E.g. Fortisol/Deceptisol farming in the first area of chapter 2 is slower than the hallway listed; Mission 7 farming is so mediocre at both CP and gil that you're better off farming the Mah'habara tunnel half the time and farming Chocobo digs for the other half (or farming Mission 24, once you get to that); etc.
