Will this run on Steam Deck?
I'm looking forward to my Steam Deck, but the 3 FF XIII games have to run on it.

I have no doubts that it wil run in at least 720p with 30fps, but the problem is....will FF13 Fix also be possible with a Steam Deck?

Sure....we can install windows on the Steam Deck, but i don't want that. So the Questions is really, if it runs on Linux/SteamOS with FF13Fix.

Has anyone already tested this on SteamOS(haven't installed that since SteamMachines were a thing)?

Until someone can actually try it out, there's no way to know for sure.

You can look at ProtonDB even today, to see if the games you're interested in have entries there. Just keep in mind that this is user-maintained data, and different proton versions may show different behavior -- and yes, this includes newer proton versions breaking games that used to run on older ones, that's also possible.

Yeah ProtonDB helps, but most people don't run this on SteamOS.
Some issues the users describe on ProtonDb is down to their used distro.

Hmmm. I just don't know if FF13Fix works and since the Steam Deck will be AMD Hardware we also need yet another workaround for the issues in FF13. Oh well.

I might just download SteamOS to a stick and boot my PC with that. Bad thing...i only have systems with NVIDIA GPUs.

Finger crossed that this runs. Squeenix forgot about XIII and it seems they never ever want to release it anywhere else again or fix these ports :/

ofc it will. DMC5 runs at 60fps on ultra settings, ofc this game will run

The things is - it will run in vanilla, but only in 30fps 1280x720 with bad framepacing and with other issues.

I wanted to know if we can run this with FF13Fix as without that i consider this game unplayable :/

I just don't know how mods are handled using SteamOS and Proton/wine and so on. FF13Fix uses a custom d3d9 dll so i don't know if this will work.

Ff13 worked great until I started getting save errors. I could no longer save my game. I tried to reload and it just crashes. Browsing google I saw all 3 games have this issue. I would stay away. I wasted 30 hours.

It runs fine on deck 720@30fps here with 20% gpu usage. I am currently looking for a trick to run it at 60 fps where I expect a 40% gpu usage.

I am at the begining of the game so no save issues at the moment for me.

But does FF13 fix work? Because without it...i don't want to start the game ^^
if 30fps is fine for you then yes

I can confirm that all 3 games can run on Steam Deck. Running it on Steam OS. FFXIII & 13-2 requires the FF fix or both games will stutter every 10 seconds. As for Lightning Returns, I ran the game straight out of the box and it ran fine. But it does stutter here and there during cutscenes from what I experienced.

Hey can you give me walk-through on how do install the fix on the steam deck bc when I did it the audio stopped working so I'm wondering since it's Linux it might have different steps?
