Farm before first Barthandelus?
Im having troubles with Benedicto, the far i have reached is after breaking all the parts, but usually when he starts casting the doom full of explosions i can't handle all the damage. Can i go back and farm/upgrade items/whatever? Leaving the ship or farming it inside.

Tried different compositions, mostly Lightning, Hope and Vanille, but even with defense bonus i cant handle the damage

Thanks !

What you can do:

- Is when he is charging Unsure if by damage or by reaching higher stagger meter, there is a cap of up to two times, mini stagger the charging to reduce the damage

- Did you also try switching to a paradigm that has a sentinal before the attack? They have a passive that gives your whole team a defence bonus.

You can also go back and train againt mobs in the area.

You can farm gil in the room just before the boss (the whole ship is actually good for that), the PSICOM enemies will drop lots of Credit Chips and Incentive Chips.
With that money you can upgrade some weapons (for your party I suggest Fireblaze Saber, Hawkeye and Belladonna Wand). Here's how:
- buy 36 Sturdy Bones and use them to bring the weapon's EXP multiplier to 3x
- buy as many Crankshafts as you need to bring the weapon to max level (search for some stat tables)
You will also get CP for leveling up in the process.
I also recommend maxing out some Rune Bracelets since Barthandelus mostly does magic damage.

You don't really need to farm to fight him. You have to be full on aggressive, playing defensively will kill you the longer it goes on.

Use an Aegisol and Fortisol before you enter the room. This will allow you to focus on full out damage. Stock up on around 50x Potions but you'll likely only need 20-30.

Use Lightning, Sazh and Vanille.

Lightning needs Doctors Code and Gold Bangle
Sazh needs Strength increasing accesories
Vanille needs Belladonna Wand, Shamans Mark and Magicians Mark to increase Magic

RAV/COM/RAV
RAV/COM/SAB
COM/SYN/RAV

Use Librascope as soon as the fight begins to get all of the weaknesses.

Start in Paradigm 2 to stack some status effects on the side parts then switch to 1. You need to destroy these asap so focus on damage. Just go all out and heal with potions. Doctors Code increases the effectiveness and will be more than enough to heal. You should be able to destroy all 4 panels/guns before the shrouds wear off. It will be easy at that point if you focus on taking him down asap.

Fight can be done in 6:30.

you need fang or snow, when you have a sentinel active the other party members algo gain some defense, so when you are getting bobarded activate med/med/sen to wistand it.

This works against a lot of big attacks, but it is not a good way to handle Destrudo. Destrudo should be weakened at least once by going full offense when it starts charging. Only after Barthandelus flinches should you consider healing and other defensive measures.

Also, for a variety of reasons Fang is one of the weakest characters for this particular fight. I do not recommend using her here.

Like others said, dealing enough damage will stagger Destrudo. It can be done twice, but with my party setup I was usually only able to get it done once.

However even one stagger is enough. If you have a sentinel in your party they can mitigate enough of the damage for the entire party to get through it after that first stagger.

In any normal playthrough, weakening Destrudo once is sufficient for survival regardless of whether or not you have a Sentinel. That's important because Fang is terrible in the fight and Snow is only mediocre.
