After beating the game twice.
Gotta say this is one of my fav games in the series.. Probably in my top 5.

I just like a lot about it, its fast paced gameplay, the cutscenes, the system is also good imo.
Its not overly complex, but its not to simple like FF9 was. The voice acting imo is spot on, the graphics and style is slicker than most games I can think of, the magic looks amazing. Also the system, while not traditional level ups, is very replayable. Even after hours maxing out the crystarium, you can still upgrade weapons and items, pushing your characters to limits not known in other FF's. I really dont get the hate this game gets but eh, means nothing to me, I can have my own opinion. But the reason I'm posting this is cuz a while back there were some threads were people were asking me what I liked about it.

Well I didn't go in detail then, I wanted to beat the system and destroy orphan easily before I really went in depth. One thing I really liked, if you really max out your characters, you destroy orphan like its pathetic. I like that, I liked that about FF6 and kefka as well, genji glove and offering combo and he's dead in one turn. Orphans a bit tougher than that but not much... Its the same difference except he just gets shredded instead of beaten in one turn.

I like getting what you worked for, I understand a challenging end boss but if you've worked to push the limits why should he still be challenging? I mean that's whats cool about RPGs imo.
There's a lot more about 13 I love, the fact I can actually skip cutscenes, and story elements. Makes it a lot more replayable than watching cloud and barret compare jock size back and forth. Even tho I still watch a lot of the cutscenes cuz of how cool they are, I also liked hearing everything that's said instead of reading tons of scrolling boxes. No offense to the old FF's of course, Its just that we've evolved technology since then and I think FF13 did it very well.

Its not a perfect game I wish we could switch the characters around during combat, and I wish we had more attacks and magic moves. But I felt like the turn based system was interesting, heavy on combos and combat. This system would be even better if it was expanded upon. For example if we had more chains and attacks then just blitz, attack, and ruin. I really do enjoy this game. I dont agree with a lot of gamers that its a bad FF, I think its a great FF, and I'm also not a new school FF fan I've played every FF from start to finish besides 12 because I missed out on Ps2 during that time.

I dunno if its my fav FF, FF7, FF6, FF9, FF8 all really good. Its def the one I enjoy playing as of right now the most.

If you enjoy FF13, there's a good chance you'll enjoy both FF13-2 and LR. Both games have fairly unique gameplay(which can be divisive, I suppose), but their story is supplemental in nature. Neither games are meant to be a stand alone experience(unlike FF13). They all combine into one closely knit and complete narrative in the end.

This makes it a little silly to compare either sequel to FF13 itself... but whatever. :steammocking:

Anyway, I suggest you play them since you enjoy FF13 so much. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :FFXIIImog:

Well thanks I love people who love FF, I love all of them, well besides mystic quest.

Which is why i dont understand why so many choose to bash a particular FF. I tried to beat MQ, got to the volcano area... Watching goofy looking cartoon monsters melt in a dragonwarrior type setup just didn't appeal to me much, actually made me feel tired.

You may want to use the spoiler tags for some of this stuff since it's apparent OP, among others, haven't played the games yet.

Also, just so you know--Caius doesn't kill Lightning. If you 100% FFXIII-2, the final scenerio allows you to play as Lightning and it shows what actually happens. While fighting in Valhalla, Lightning and Caius are stuck in what seems to be an endless loop. Each time Caius strikes Lightning down the loop starts over. However, Lightning gets stronger after every loop. Eventually, she kicks his ass and breaks the loop.

Both FFXIII-2 and LR are pretty awesome. :FFXIIIlightning:

Its ok I'm not that worried about spoilers.

Dr Strange got killed by dormammu over and over again in the dr strange movie and was just revived everytime thanks to a time loop. If lightning dies, then returns, I suppose that's why the 3rd ones called lightning returns. I dunno tho, the whole time angle sounds strange, I was hoping they'd all just settle down on pulse, and expand it from there, like after the first game.

But you know, every game publisher wants to be drastically different than the last game, for some reason.

Alright, well, you asked for it, lol. :steammocking:

Lightning doesn't actually die. Your comparison to Dr. Strange and Dormammu is actually spot-on. They are stuck in a loop. However, Lightning eventually defeats Caius. Unfortunately, while Lightning is perpetually stuck fighting this incarnation of Caius, it's Serah who actually dies during other events within the game.

Long story short, Lightning manages to perserve Serah's soul within herself--preventing it from being lost to the sea of chaos--by taking up Etro's throne and entering a crystal stasis. All of this ends up breaking the infinite loop. Hibernating for several hundred years, Lightning "sleeps" until she awakens once more at the "end of time," where she'll persumably find a way to save Serah.

And this is where Lightning Returns begins. :13LRmark:

I see, well that's not such a bad ending, I guess.

The game is a lot of fun. There's a cool time travel mechanic which is very reminiscent
to Chrono Trigger and, although there's a general lack of Lightning outside of a few kickass moments, Serah and Noel both do a good job of carrying the story.

You also get introduced to Caius, who is a fairly interesting villain--something the original FFXIII sorely lacked. Caius is essentially trying to end the cycle of time itself(for reasons) and... Let's just say he does a pretty good job with his efforts. :steammocking:

Like I said before, you should definitely check out FFXIII-2 and LR when you get a chance.

I like Jill Nahbit, but she went out kinda lame, and Bart, well he was evil as all hell.

But yea I do like serah as a character, one reason why I'm looking forward to 13-2. I played a little bit of the demo on 360, it was pretty cool from what I played.
