Strategy is much more important than stats are in this game. That's partly because stats are only ever linear modifiers (they're often quadratic or even cubic in earlier FFs) and partly because the system features numerous stacking damage multipliers (both offensive and defensive) that compound upon each other.
This is what a good Hecatoncheir fight might look like "fair":

This is what you should be able to pull off at max development:

exactly , he cheats and still cant beat a game , which must mean the game is broken , since, it cant be on his side , hes cheating after all
if you want a game you can just rush through without a challenge , maybe ffxv would be better for you
Then again I've played since the start on slow combat speed and people say Eidolon battles are easier on slow.
you get more time , and sometimes 1 shot attacks like the ones odin does take longer to complete on slow
I know that all too well haha
the game can be really hard at times especially if you dont understand the battle system the first time i beat it i had to restart like 4 or 5 times because i got stuck on a boss or eidolon ( vanilles was one of the 2 eidolons that made me start over ( the other being odin)
ff13 is one of the few games that was really challenging until you understood its battlesystem
i fully understand it and i can drag on the fight against the one enemy in chapter 8 for minutes because i dont let hopes hp fall below the trigger for the others to join , i even get into a later phase with just 1 character by spaming potions and healing
the game has a really great battlesystem overall but it takes time to learn and isnt as easy as in some other games
