If i take the ship to cocoon ....can i go back to gran pulse or i should farm a bit more before i leave ?

Taking the ship will initiate Chapter 12. You will be able to come back to Pulse through a portal present at the beginning of Chapter 13, which will always be accessible after that point.

If you take the ship, you will start Chapter 12, which is a dungeon that takes you an hour or two to beat. When you beat Chapter 12, you will start Chapter 13, and at the beginning of Chapter 13, you'll be given a permanent access to Gran Pulse. You won't be fighting the final boss until the end of Chapter 13.

Serafie already explained it but theres two more chapters after you take the airship , however you arent able to return to gran pulse until close to the end of the last chapter ( at that point you unlock a warp to Vallis Media and a place in chapter 12
