Pure magic, Pearlwing Staff. Practically, Belladonna Wand.

Seriously. Belladonna Wand is incredibly overpowered. A top-tier passive with very high magic? Yes pls.

I have it and I'm gonna scrap it for 3 traps.
Lightning makes just as good a sabotuer imo. I want strong magic that causes loads of damage. But thanks for the advice I'll try the pearlwing.

If you want dmg, use Hope instead. Higher magic stat and better atk spd.

And no, no one but Fang come as close to being as good as Vanille. Time waiting for debuffs to stick is time not spend dealing dmg.

Vanille's ultimately a better COM than Hope despite his advantages. Why? Because she has Adrenaline and he doesn't. The same thing is what puts Light behind Fang and Snow when it comes to COM performance.

... Which is evened out by the time you take to apply the debuffs.

Why do people always wanna be backseat gamers, no I dont want hope as my magic damage.

Literally nothing to do with backseating.

Yep...
Telling me I need this debuff weapon so my fav character can be a weak support type when she causes over 90k fireballs easily. Maybe I do wanna make hope an awesome magic type with vanille, maybe I wanna push both their magic stats, vanilles up past 3k magic now and pushing it more would be preferable, I've used the marlboro wand for the past 3 playthroughs.

Point is I ask for advice that I dont know, and I get the same suggestions I've been hearing for her since day1.

Uh, do you realize that Adrenaline is a passive ability which has nothing to do with debuffs?

I wouldn't use vanille as a commando for one reason, her weapon is crap.

That's not a good reason to avoid using her as a Commando. First, because her primary mode of damage as a Commando is going to be Ruin(ga) (or COM-shifted Death), and spellcasting doesn't care about her weapon animations. Second, because she's capable of pretty extreme shenanigans even with her physical attacks.

I mean, if you don't want to use her Commando, then cool. Just saying that the reason you're giving here doesn't make much sense.

Well it also seems like slower attacks than hope.

Depending on the scenario, that might matter or it might not. DPS is based on a lot of factors, including but not limited to animation speeds, raw stats, and damage boosting passives. Vanille typically beats out Hope on DPS, which is why I said she was a better Commando, but there are times when DPS doesn't matter as much as other factors.

And of course, a character's proficiency in any single role is rarely the only thing that factors into deciding whether or not they're the right fit for a given strategy.

His boomerang also looks very cool, astetics matter to me when everything dies anyway.
For example vanille looks cool when she's casting magic, and the magic looks nice as well, and hits very hard, meanwhile she looks very awkward and goofy swinging her weapon around.

You do realize that you have to apply debuffs for optimal dps beforehand?

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the game. Com has literally nothing to do with physical attacks. Neither has Ravager anything to do with magical attacks. Getting rid of the stereotype is why Ruin(ga) and the *-strike abilites exist.

The difference is practically non-existent and offset by the time you apply the debuffs anyway. Getting faster debuffs should increase your parties total dps more than only pushing Vanille.
