I am sure this is a good game but I can't really get into it at all. I have tried 3 times but i always end up in the same place. I play for a while and lose all interest in it. The story seems intriguing but the game play is pretty tedious. Maybe mods could make this a much more enjoyable experience. I was playing it on Death march but it was still pretty easy, Geralts movement is extremely clunky which is bad when majority of the game is to go from a to b, The combat is really bare bones and just revolves around spamming the same attack over and over again and the endless cutscenes really get grating.

I really like the story so I will just read the books.

I will start by saying that this is one of my favorite games, but it will still get a negative review and I will explain why below.

My first issue is the downgrade. The game received a trailer showing some really amazing stuff, like go look at that trailer, even in today's industry that still looks really good.
When the game came out, it turned out that was all a lie, and that they decided to remove a lot of visual and immersive features. Probably the most obvious downgrade if you play the game already and then go look at the trailer, is the amount of NPCs being severely reduced, same for their behaviors.

They then did an interview and if you can read past their PR crap, you understand what they said in it. They said that the game couldn't exist without consoles, and because consoles suck, they downgraded the game for PC too, because console parity. That's right, they pulled the Watch Dogs trick, where they downgraded the PC version so that the consoles don't look too bad in comparison.
They eventually added most, but not all, of the missing things in the PC version, after most of the sales happened during the launch period, so that the consoles don't show how much worse their version is, like just looking at the framerate didn't already make it obvious.

Like all this wasn't enough, they pulled a smart PR stunt. They cut 16 pieces of content from the game, and started releasing them as so called free DLCs (one a week if I remember right). Keep in mind this is all content that was already finished when the game came out. But, their stunt worked. Because a lot of people rushed to praise them for the so called free DLCs. This was incredibly scummy and manipulative, not generous in any way, and I really feel sorry for everyone that fell for it.
Also, just a note.. There is no such thing as a free DLC. You either have DLCs or updates, so you also don't need to mention free update like some other studios do. If it's paid it's a DLC, if it's free it's an update, it isn't rocket science.

Lastly, the game received expansions, and the expansions added a lot of things that were in the previous games and missing from this one. Things like a lot of missing creatures were added in the expansions, after most of them were missing when the game came out. This suggests the expansions were planned from the beginning, but they didn't even have the decency to announce them before release.
Not to mention DLCs, expansions or whatever you want to call them are ALWAYS anti consumer, so that would be a negative even without all the other stuff.

No game or other product in this world is good enough to just ignore anti consumer and manipulative practices, those always take priority over the quality of the product and can taint it completely. If you want to ignore all these things, since they don't really affect you if you buy the game now, go ahead and buy it because it's really good.

Personally, I bought it very very cheap so I give them as little money as possible. They did end up doing more shady stuff with their next game called Cyberpunk 2077, but that will come in its own review.

Poor optimization and boring gameplay

o jogo é ótimo, estou apenas manifestando meu descontentamento sobre algo que a CD NÃO avisa e NÃO oferece suporte sobre:

antes da atualização, o jogo rodava muito bem no meu pc, após ela, tornou-se IMPOSSÍVEL de jogar o jogo.

os requisitos mínimos e máximos presentes na página do jogo estão COMPLETAMENTE desatualizados, o seu pc NÃO vai rodar bem o jogo mesmo se estiver nos requisitos máximos.

e mesmo assim, não encontrei formas de excluir a atualização de nova geração do jogo.

Combat is absolute trash. Can't do anything if there's more than 1 enemy, couldn't finish the game because of that

Writing this review as I wait for it to boot, again. It crashes once per hour.

Do not buy this game unless you're happy with crashes at least once per hour, and with combat that is from 2008 at least.

Story is great. Playing the story is awful.
