Claywich Merchant Bug (SOLVED)
I've learnt from a quick search that this is apparently a known, and frequently encountered, bug for people who are after the Gwent collection achievement. I just wanna know if someone has found a sure way of working through this after all these updates.

So I've rescued the Merchant from the Person in Distress location at the Bandit's Hideout on the island. He's freed and he's made it back to Claywich (I can see him standing near one of the houses), I just can't talk to the bugger.

This kinda problem where the name of the NPC appears over their head ("Merchant" in this case) but the option to Talk isn't given also occurs frequently with the Blacksmith in Blackbough, but when I meditate for an hour nearby, the issue is instantly resolved. I've meditated nearby Claywich for days and still can't get the merchant to talk.

Can anyone help? Or does anyone know if there's another way to acquire the Sweers and Puttkammer cards which apparently only this Merchant sells?

Have you rescued the barber too?

In my way too many playthroughs, this has always been whats happened:
Rescue one of the two, return to Claywich and he'll be non-interactive.
Rescue the other, return to the village, the first becomes interactive, the second is not.
Meditate or fast travel away, just to return, and the second rescuee becomes interactive.

Cards bought and a nice clean shave to boot.

Here is a tip on finding the barber if you are in need: just west of the Hangman's Alley fast travel post

If that still doesn't work, do the usual check ups: integrity of cache, check mods and so on, and try again from an older save, because if it's a bug, it has now been baked into the save, and cannot be salvaged.

I fast traveled away and then back to Claywich, and voila! The Merchant talks!
