The game crashes on directx 12
The game crashes more and more often, I tried to change all the settings, etc. I play on rtx 3080. I want it on directx 12 because it has improved lighting and textures. I play in 4k + hdr. I've tried a bunch of settings. For the first 20 hours of the game, she didn't crash at all. At first, I flew out once every 2-3 hours, now after that, maybe as soon as you come in or within 20 minutes.

I had exactly the same thing every time I wanted to play it. With DX12 you will only have crashes. I didn't even get to play. With DX11 everything works as it should. But without the announced graphics and lighting improvements. So this version makes no sense.
Try turning off Nvidia Hairworks. Worked for me.

try an older save or new game. same problem with either/both of those?
if not, then game logic error.

if still issues then probably a system problem somewhere:
check windows event viewer and also windows reliability history.

I installed the latest driver when it came out in early Dec. then this week
for some reason, windows 11 and my nvidia graphics card driver stopped playing nice.
many windows hardware errors started showing up.
had to wipe the driver then clean install the driver and no further hardware errors since.

open a command prompt with admin permission and run these commands to check windows system files

sfc /scannow
dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

(sfc scans and repairs Windows system files
dism fixes corrupt files in the Windows system image, use it when SFC can't repair files)
Its the game buddy trust me nothing to do with newest drivers or olden ones. It does it on ps5 aswell. If u want a crash free experience u must use the older version [non next-gen] 1.32 i believe.

I had this exact same issue until someone recommended launching the game in DX11, creating a manual save, and then re-launching the game in DX12.

I had routine crashes with hairworks enabled until I did the above steps. Since then, I've logged in well over a dozen hours with no crashing, hairworks enabled in DX12.

I know CDPR released a hotfix for crashing with hairworks in DX11 awhile back, and I have a theory that the game needs to be launched in DX11 for this fix to "take". I don't quite know if that's how these things work, but it fixed the crashing on my end.
hairworks causes it yes, but also alt-tabbing while playing will cause your game to crash 100% of the time, might be right away, might be in 10 minutes.

May have something to do with the Steam overlay, as some people say running the game's .exe from the folder causes the crashes to stop, doing so also turns the overlay off completely.

I do not know if this will fix the problem completely. But I tried to change something. I turned off nvidia reflex, turned off vsync, installed it in a window without frames. And the whole session that I played, for about 3-4 hours, the game did not crash. I assume that the main change that affected this is nvidia reflex, because I tried to change the rest of the settings before that.

I will give that a try next time. 8
