Constant Crashing When Loading Areas
I bought the game a few weeks ago and have almost 50 hours logged so far. However, since I first started playing, I would experience crashes when attempting to load saves. This was fine, as I didn't die often, but it has continued to get worse since then. The game occasionally began to crash when fast travelling, though generally only to/from Novigrad or the Baron's place.

I continued the main story and have now reached the point at which I need to travel to Skellige. However, every time I try to do so, the game crashes shortly after the cutscene of Geralt propping up his swords and laying down. I have seen similar threads and none of their potential solutions have worked. Today, I tried to start the game again and it instantly crashed when pressing "Continue". I am entirely out of ideas and would appreciate any help on the issue. I would be very disappointed to have to give up on the game entirely.

I have no mods downloaded, I completed the Byways quest that sometimes causes problems, I have verified the file integrity through Steam, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

on my fourth playthru. currently have a level 49 character. not running into crashing issues. but my hardware/OS is different. game did not crash on my 2011 desktop with win 7 then win 10 and is not crashing on my 2021 win 11 desktop.

maybe its your dual nvidia 5090 graphics cards?

perhaps check windows event viewer and also windows reliability history.
might be a game crash event or system related error.

might be a recent windows or graphics card driver update.
try rolling back graphics card driver.

could check your windows system files. something might have gotten corrupted.
open a command prompt with admin permission and run these commands:

sfc /scannow
dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

(sfc scans and repairs Windows system files. if it finds errors check
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log file for details
dism fixes corrupt files in the Windows system image, use it when SFC can't repair files
you may have to run dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth depending on
what scan health can/cannot do)

if playing dx11 version try dx12.
if playing dx12 version try dx11.

but it sounds like a game logic error. unfixable as it is baked into the save.

could try an older save from before crashing started, do different quests in different order, might resolve the crashing.

start a new game. play awhile saving occasionally. does that work without crashing?

could try using dependency walker64 and run the game thru that. might tell you exactly what/ is causing the crash.
