Battle of Kaer Morhen. Cannot open the gate or proceed

Is this a known bug with a known workaround? This is not my first playthrough but I didn't hit this problem last time.

I'm Ciri right now at the battle of Kaer Morhen (second time). Just saved Eskel. Then he and I progressed to fight off some bad guys. On the screen my objective says "Defeat Karanthir's Warriors". But I did that. After we killed the last one, Ciri shouted, "We've got to open the gate". But I cannot do that. I cannot interact with the wheel that's supposed to open it. I even went to one of those online guides to make sure I had the right place and yup. It just won't open.

My objective still says, "Defeat Karanthir's Warriors" but they're all dead. I've run all over the place and they're all dead and there's nobody left to fight.

I can't save and reload either without losing progress. So is there a workaround?

I just tried going back to the checkpoint save (fortunately I didn't lose anything) and it happened again.

the bug from 2017

the workaround is that you find invisible npc and kill it. (usually underground)

maybe try kill all npc command in console.

or try earliers save you have , and upload that. (so I can try it myself , sometimes it works on diffrent people)

I just tried it a 3rd time and this time went more slowly though the battle, not rushing as much, and it seemed to be fixed. (There was no underground that I could see). Thanks for the post
