save data appears to be damaged and cannot be loaded witcher 3

help, after a year i want to continue my witcher 3 journey but i get the following error when i try to load up ANY of my save games. Anyone had this before and knows a solution?

just dug my first save file out of storage from Dec 2015.
the current version of the game still loads and runs it.
so I would guess that the current version of the game can load all previous versions.

mods? using the current version of the game AND updated mods?
using same game version as last year?

have a friend with the game? give them a copy of the .png and .sav files and see if they can run them. that would tell you for sure if the files are corrupt.
or if you have another machine would work also.
