Weight control / declogging the inventory
Looking for advice on how to reduce the need for frequent trips to the shops to offload. I know of the main ways to boost capacity (a perk, saddlebags, a decoction for emergencies), I'm looking to reduce the dead weight I carry instead. It seems 80-90 is the stable norm for level 20+, but I can't tell where it's coming from. Ingredients? Books? Definitely not the kit I wear.

What is probably happening is that you're grabbing a lot of junk loot that adds up really fast, like pelts, bones and glass.
Also make an habit of not grabbing crap like clubs and axes. They weigh a ton and their sell value is low.

go into inventory and sort the items by weight. get rid of heavier ones or stacks of lighter ones.
sort by price - get rid of all the cheap stuff
sort by price - sell or store or dismantle all the expensive stuff

on this playthru I have a 20+ toon, also have around 90 inventory weight but I can carry 190.

190 sounds like you're sacrificing a slot for that perk.

Does sorting by weight means total weight or per-item weight?

pick a stack of something like crossbow bolts.
drop one item. the weight of the stack of bolts goes down.

4th playthru. not watching inventory anymore. just happen to post what my current carry limit was.

tbh by the time i reached level 35 ish, only gotten up to like 75% of the main quest, yes i did all side quests in all areas, i had already a minimum of 120+. due to potions that i craft it would be extremely hard to carry everything. Hence I suggest you download the over 9000 mod, very easy to download and then you wouldn't worry about inventory ever, + side you can keep all weapons you get.

130 by level 24. And it's already a chore, especially if you run in a loot-heavy area.
