June 6 Hotfix stalled

For 10 days , STEAM has been attempting to download and install the update. It has downloaded and gone through the steps over and over and over. It has not worked, yet it continues to try re-downloading and going through all the steps. Again and again and again.
I had to uninstall the game today to get it to stop.
I am mad that this happens with Witcher Every time the update the game. I have to delete the installation and then completely reinstall the game.
I am mad because all storage media has a finite lifespan and Steam has used my expensive SDD over and over and over , probably more times than I could even guess. A hundred? A thousand?
When my SSD fails, I will be sending a bill to STEAM for using up it's limited lifespan with a countless and pointless failure to have error detection installed and prevent this easily avoidable ocurrence.
If an update fails. Do not try it a million times expecting a different outcome. THAT is insanity.

Jesus man, relax. You are so worried about your precious ssd for no reason. They are literally made for that. I bought a 90gb ssd whwn they first came out and it is still running as strong as ever. Also the fact that the update works for everyone else, tells us this problem is on your side.

steam update issue. click on steam settings then downloads
then clear download cache
then clear cache.

steam verify game files and it should hopefully complete successfully.

can look in folder ....\steam\logs
in file content_log.txt
lines with appid 292030 are about this game. might tell you what is wrong

might also check firewall/antivirus logs. new definition file might be blocking something

out of space where downloads are being made or where game is going
