Stuck on Loading Screen

Hello,

I've been having a problem with The Witcher 3 for a long time and I haven't found a solution. Here's my problem:

When I start the game and try to load any of my saves, it gets stuck on the loading screen. The loading bar fills up halfway and then doesn't progress. Meanwhile the spinning circle above the loading text keeps spinning but the game won't start. I have this problem every time.

I have deleted, reinstalled and updated the game to fix this issue, but the problem persists.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a solution or have experienced a similar problem? I am waiting for your help.

the new game is working, I am not using any mod

so the game is working. I should have said start new game, create a new save, exit game, restart game, then load/continue. to see if the game is still creating valid saves.

you are not using mods now. were you using mods when those old saves were made?

the current version of the game still loads a save file made in Dec 2015 when the game first came out on my win 11 PC. I have not heard that old saves were incompatible but I could be wrong.

you are not using mods now. were you using mods when those old saves were made?

I started a new game, exited the game at the first save point and opened the save, the game opened. I did not use any mods and I have been playing the game for years, this is the first time I have had this problem.

just tried random saves from 2015 2016 2020 2022 2023 in case the latest version of the game could not read earlier save files. game ran them all. would appear current version of the game can read/run previous saves.

so what happened to your save files.

maybe go to folder Documents\The Witcher 3
delete or rename or move somewhere else all the .settings files
try game again.

also try if dx11, try dx12
if dx12 try dx11
maybe some graphics setting no longer applies/is corrupt.

I'll try this, I don't know what happened, I was playing the game normally without any problems, I got to the baron section but it didn't load my save

I have same problem. Loading saved games wont work and loading freezes. Tried everything. Tried starting new game, dx11, vulkan, different settings, removing save game folder etc.
Good thing I got it from sale for 3€ so no big loss.
