Why would I want the Aerondight Sword

i am level 46 with full Griffin Armour and swords with all the advantages they give me. Why would I want to lose them for the Aerondight or am I missing something. Cheers.

Other Relic weapons in the game have leveled versions, so within one playthrough, you can find multiple versions of the same weapon. The only difference between them is that they'll have different stats. Aerondight doesn't do that. Instead, it as a property that allows its damage to scale as you fight. No other weapon in the game has that property.

Thank you guys, I can understand then why it is useful for non Griffin builds. Perhaps next play through I go combat and not signs.

Aerondight can be leveled up to only deliver critical hits. This makes Whirl a joy to use. I have two Aerondights, one sitting at home in Corvo Bianco and one always with me.

you pretty much already found your answer: dont use aerondight if you want to benefit from a 6 piece grandmaster witcher set bonus (e.g. griffins super yrden), use aerondight if you dont really care for that (e.g. cat set, the 3 piece bonus is the real boon here)
aerondights scaling makes it easily the strongest silver sword for pure damage in the long run

Kinda pisses me off the two witcher crossbows are not considered parts of their respective sets. This way you could have Aerondight + complete set benefits. Overpowered, I know, but who cares at that point? The game is already beat if you get to NG+ with a Legendary Grandmaster set and a fully leveled up Aerondight.
