Finding key to release hostages at bandit camps

I've just cleared my first bandit camp and there's a peasant in a locked cage. When i go to open the door he says "oi witcher, find the key! release me you won't regret it!" I've searched all bodies of the fallen bandits and have used witcher senses to go through all the loot in the camp and I haven't found anything. Am i missing something? Has anyone else gotten this far?

I found a key on a dead slaver at one location, so they...might exist where you are as well?

but in my case it's not a peasant, but merchant and he says that key is somewhere nearby. i searched all around with my senses and opened every chest and looted every bandit, but...

Yeah, same here; I'm pretty sure I'm at the same merchant as Jean-Michel Basquiat. I'm starting to think it might just be glitched.

Keys are on the bodies.

I looted everyone and everything and I assume it must be bug. Too many people have the same problem...

I found keys for all cages on the bodies. My problem is they stay in inventory after you use them so my quest inventory is now full of useless stuff.

Reload and try opening the cage if you are sure you looted all bodies.

The problem, at least in my case, is that there is no bandit leader. There are usually 3 or 4 regular bandits whenever I go there, but I've searched everywhere within like a 100 foot radius of the cage and I have yet to see any leader at that particular cage.

Bandits' Camp northeast of Fyke Isle. Merchant in a cage. No key. Killed most of the bandits with a grapeshot, killed the bandit leader by sword. Looted all the corpses. Looted every container in the area. No key.

Meditate a hour, new bandits spawn. But if it dropped the first time you wont get another.

No luck. Bandits aren't respawning. meditated at the site. medidated elsewhere. traveled to other regions.

SOme places the bandits never spawn like the one near the guy that sells fake passes...3 new games and every time no bandits spawned ... not cool.
