Anyone have a tip to kill drowners underwater?

Found this treasure, but it seems to me I cant fight underwater,

Crossbow , but not to kill them only to drive them away a bit. I usually just swim as fast as i can , grab the loot and dodge the enemys a bit, rarely get hit underwater even when i bump into them.

1 Shot kill with default crossbow, of course if you're very underleveled it's gonna take a couple of shots. But, basically jump in and start shooting while putting on a rambo face

They are usually just something in the way to get past, such as a chest or underwater entrance so I simply use Quen as protection while I swim around.

sail with a boat over your destiny.as soon as they are further away jump into the water. swim fast, collect, surface and get into the boat again.

Drowners in water are weak b*tches. Drowners on land are deadly. I'd really think it should be the opposite ... I can't 1-2 shot them with a crossbow on land. Why can I in water!?

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but you can use your crossbow underwater.

If you max out the lightning reflexes skill, it's REALLY easy to take down the drowners, and harpies, for that matter.

I advise you to use auto aim underwater, aiming in TW3 isn't exactly flawless... If you're using keyboard and mouse as your controls, just tap the middle mouse button once and Geralt automaticaly aims to the nearest enemy, whether you're on land or underwater.

It usually takes more than 1 shot for me, maybe because they are higher or at my level. They also seem to do more damage underwater, but maybe that's just me. There's one treasure where they never stop respawning, I died trying to get to the treasure and didn't try again. Once I was at high level, I didn't bother to go back, might do it on another playthrough.
