Changing character trait? Baron's men hate me?
Hi. I somehow messed up the option to make peace with the Baron's men in the tavern, and ended up destroying them all. As a result, all of Baron's guys are after me and it's a bit frustrating. Is there a way to make amends or am I stuck with my decision?

Have not seen a way to make amends, don't know if all auto saves are kept, but if you haven't already gone too far before I've posted this, you could go back to an auto right before it and change it

You can get them to have a change of heart but you first have to talk to the baron and agree to help him. In order to get to the baron you have to circle around to the back side of his little town and find a cave that will get you past the guards.

wait, so I shouldn't have just murdered those jackasses in the tavern? Whoops.

Oh is that's why the small cave in Crow's Perch exist. I was wondering about that.

you should not murder someone because he's a jackass. XD

And here I thought the whole "yep, this whole village just got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over because I killed some idiots" vibe you get from the innkeeper was a big enough hint that it probably wasn't the wisest course of action... Atleast if you were looking to make any friends.

Well I was attempting to lead the conversation toward keeping them pacified, however I made the error of telling them that where I was going wasn't their business. Mistakes were made. Unfortunately by the time I realized I had made a big mistake I was way too far forward in the story to want to restart from the last save.

Does that tend to affect my reception with people in random towns as well, or is it specifically tied to the Baron's men?

it will only bug you for a little bit. you have to find a cave to sneak up thru the well in the barons castle. there will still be some trouble however in like 4 different encounters where the barons men will attack you but its not gamebreaking and its minor.

you can still get best best possible ending from the baron questline, I did.

SPOILER: What really matters is when you are doing the crone's quest to destroy the tree spirit. DO NOT RELEASE IT, if you want the "happy ending". if you want the bad ending.. release it lol

Well, it is not really a bad ending. There is hardly ever good and bad, right or wrong, black and white. All choices have pro and cons.

You should, but you can only know that if you dont do it at first.

Thing is, if you tell them you're a witcher they will leave you alone... and start chatting among themselves, including one guy bragging about raping a small boy.

At that point I drew my sword and slaughtered them where they sat. And it's a decision I will definitely not change on a second playthrough, because it is what I believe Geralt would have done. Slaying monsters is his job, after all.

I guess it's pretty bad.
Anna dead, Baron suicided, and Tamara is a Witch hunter which means you will at some point have to kill the piece of ♥♥♥♥. Though I guess at least the Baron's death could be seen as a good thing, given the arse he was.

Well.. I agree with most of the choices in the game being like that. But I still think the baron reuniting with his wife is a happier ending then a village getting massacred and the baron commiting suicide after watching his wife turned into a monster

But you don`t know that the Village gets slaughtered. The only thing you know is, that the children will die if you don`t do it. Does nobody think of the children? I too did choose the kill tree option, but it wasn`t an easy decision. The people in the village are stupid and the Baron and Anna...not the best people.

Fair enough, its a difficult morale dilemma for sure

I thought of the children, and thought the witches soundes like they wanted to rape me and noped the ♥♥♥♥ out of there. Found an evil spirit with a grudge against the crones and saw no reason to not release it. Oh well.
