Drowners are OP
Seriously? Can't parry them... Dodge works like 30% of the time because they have ridiculous range. I thought we were done with roll roll roll click click click combat. Plus on most enemies using the upgraded versions of the signs is pointless because of the delay from holding Q. Just an easy way to die.

i agree with you on this. They attack in groups and lunge forward so far that it is near impossible to get off any attacks without taking a couple of hits yourself. I've taken to spamming the bomb button.

I thought the same thing for a while until I started using Yrden; whether there is 3 or 5 of them, Yrden will definitely keep them in check.

Can dodge and even counterattack them 100% of the time
IKR? First witcher, they were noob fodder to kill by the dozens - 2nd game, abit tougher but still nothing rough. THis game? they are freaking martial artists. :P

Sidestepping works great for me. Drowners are easy to kill as long as you keep your back free. Igni, bombs and yrden works great, as does Aard. Quen almost makes them too easy.

Just use the short dodge, rolling is only useful to cover distance. It jumps back - wait for it - dodge to a side - attack 2-3 times - it jumps back again. Doesn't seem to complicated.

Exactly. Face it from the front, wait for it to lunge towards you, backstep, two quick blows, repeat. They die from just a couple of hits if you use oil anyway.

You probably dodge them stepping back while you should be stepping to side, still they swarm you pretty bad and the worst thing is that their AI is kinda ridiculous, they won't leave their spawn so you cant lure one outside, as soon as you leave the spawn it will run back in circles probably getting bugged or stuck on the way.
I've been using rolls and not dodges, but I'm starting to think the rolls are a bad choice.

Not really they basically just lunge attack which is pretty easy to avoid with a side dodge or backward dodge then counter attack.
I find they attack far to often and so in groups by the time you've actually swung the sword at one of them Geralt just gets swarmed by 2 others. No time to mind control either as you get owned before you can get the spell off. The Yydren and dodging is the bets way to go though, that was a good shout.

When you use the roll it puts you too far out of melee range. That's a good thing to use when you're getting mobbed and you want to reapply your Quen sign.

Just manage groups better and dodge timely, don't spam buttons and always look around. Annoying - yes. OP - not really. And just in case, I always play on hardest difficulty (not because I'm so cool, but because this way the gear and levels actually mean something in terms of gameplay)

Lol, no they're not. You don't need to parry or block... just roll up behind them after they do the swipe attack, and close the distance BEFORE you strike with that lunging slash that Geralt does. The trick is not to attack from too far, because you will miss and the drowner will counter you, and depending on the difficulty you'll be dead in a few hits. They're also vulnerable to Igni, so you could group them up and get them with that (if you're lucky they'll catch on fire and you can get some good hits on them too).

Damn, it's refreshing as hell playing a game that rewards precise timing like TW3.

Well, in the water they die with one shot from the crossbow. Haven't tried the crossbow on dry land. Otherwise, dodge, whack x2, dodge whack x2.

also once you manage to dodge s few they are often bunched up, igni will set them on fire, drowners seem to freak out a little longer when aflame, that or Aard

i'm playing on death march, you learn real quick that quin is very important the 2nd row upgrade has a bubble shield that heals you when you are hit, I also use the quick cast quin for when i want to finish off one without getting hit.

What I do is stay back a ways wait for them to leap attack them I dodge to the left/right then do a quick attack, if the others are far away then I do 3 hits and roll away, rinse and repeat

if i'm low on health i use quin bubble shield to get my health back up and just keep fighting, also once you get to neckkers you will realise that drowners are the easy ones
